Does anyone remember which Green Day tune it was that fit the Queen so perfectly?  And what album was it from?

I don't remember a song like that (I'm a newbie) but when I think about it, maybe "Wake me up when September ends"? There are references to summer, a father, seven years...loss of innocence..."drenched in my pain again, becoming who we are"...yes, I know this off the top of my head, which is odd because I don't really listen to Green Day all that much. Hope that helped, or maybe just eliminated another one from the list. :)

I don't know about Green Day, but speaking of songs, I always thought k. d. lang's version of 'Hallelujah' fit Eugenides and Irene really well.

I heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
You don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you
to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew Hallelujah

Baby I've been here before,
I've seen this room and I've walked the floor,
I used to live alone before I knew you
But I've seen your flag on the marble arch,
Our love is not a victory march,
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Maybe there's a God above,
But all I've ever learnt from love,
Is how to shoot somebody who outdrew you,
It's not a cry that you hear at night,
It's not someone who's seen the light,
It's a cold and broken hallelujah

Hmmm...I'm not really sure because i only have American Idiot and the closest on that, I think, would be Wake Me Up When September Ends. It has that kind of angst. I heard something ages ago that I thought suited the Queen well and i've just found out exactly what it is. What do you think?

Cheezluva's 1st comment-- Pulling Teeth. Not sure what album that's on, as I'm not a Green Day fan.

It was on "Dookie." You know, the one with "When I Come Around," "Basket Case," and "Longview." Waaaaay back in 1994.

I've never heard the k.d lang sing it, but I adore the Jeff Buckley version.
