I bring - um - new fanarts?

I do. But since my drawing skills are lousy, it isn't exactly traditional fanart. It's dolls.

Crochet dolls.

Let me explain: I've been off LJ for a while, and mostly been using that time for craft projects. First I found a pattern for a crocheted doll of the Ninth Doctor; I made four Doctor Who characters before I decided that was enough. Naturally the second place I went for inspiration was my shiny new copy of CoK and, finally, Little Attolia and her King are finished. Given all the great fanart that gets posted here, I thought I would share them with you..

And one more thing, I may be remembering wrong, but is your flickr name a reference to Gormenghast by any chance? It's rare to see anything having to do with that series.

I love Ten more, but Nine grows on my every time I watch Series 1 again (there are also some pictures of the Doctor Who dolls in my flickr account; just uploaded them today as well). And, yes, my flickr name is from Gormenghast; ten points to Gryffindor! Such a weird set of books, but I do enjoy them.

Haha! I'm the other way around, actually. Nine's my favorite, and I had the hardest time forgiving Ten for taking his place.

:D Oh, totally bizzaro. But, yeah, still enjoyable. I think it's Peake's writing. It's so over the top, and somehow it completely works.

Still haven't gotten to that one, but I've heard that before. I know ~the twist. I guess I'll see what I think about it after I read it.

Well, I bet we both agree that Eleven isn't quite up to scratch!

I think the problem with Titus Alone is that Peake wrote it while he was very sick; it feels like it was too weird to being with, and came out of the oven too early. I wouldn't put it at the top of your reading list any time soon, but that's just me.

I wondered about sending some kind of note directly to mwt, but it feels a little third-grade-awkward to email someone you don't know and say, "Look! I made a thing! Are you proud of me?" The only time I've written a fanletter in my life was to complain to the author...I don't think I know the etiquette for gushing.

Actually, I may be sort of hoping that I'll earn one of those anonymous, lowercase messages in the comment thread. Because that's how you know you've done a really good job. ;)

Maybe Emerald will comment on these; I believe she actually sent a doll to mwt? Maybe? Perhaps I am mixed up. Idk. Someone will know. I think mwt thinks we are all crazy, crazed fans so would not be at all surprised to see a note from one of us. They go through Greenwillow or HarperCollins anyway, so no worries, I think. I've sent her notes. And, yes, I felt awkward about it, but yes, it was worth it!

Oh, thank you! I actually can't knit either; this is crochet, which is (appropriately for this comm) essentially a one-handed activity. It is much easier, and better for small things and fiddly corners.

Aww, thank you. Nice icon; I almost made Gen a yellow coat, but someone (Attolia, perhaps? Or one of her ladies?) insisted that they at least somewhat match for this occasion, so we had to go for a more tasteful burnt orange over yellow...
