Making a costume

I am having a fancy dress party in two weeks, and people have to come as their favourite character.
I'm going as Eugenedies (for obvious reasons) so I have two weeks to make a costume.
I decided on Gen from KoA, since it's gives me the most to work with, I think, costume wise.
Does anyone have any suggestions for things I could do to make the costume-making easier on myself? Tips or Tricks or anything?
I only work 2 days a week, but I do have a one year old, so my sewing time is slightly limited unless I want to fight the baby for the fabric the whole time.

That sounds amazing! You could scout around at used-clothing stores to see if there are any cool old coats that you can further elegant-ify...

Keep an eye out for a fancy bathrobe in the Thrift Store. Cut it to knee length. You'll need some low boots!

Ooh this reminds me: a few weeks ago I was in a store, and I saw a pair of short boots (for men) that totally made me think of Gen's gold dust sprinkled boots! I showed them to my friend and she agreed!
