i'm a new member!
a brief intro,
-i hail from Singapore, it's an island in southeast asia.
-i'm currently going on 14,
-and i have QoA under my table right now.
-i went reading around here about the whole day until now when i decided to join. it's really interesting and nice to know people who know Gen. like, my friends, they haven't ever read it and that's so sad. unfortunately, i have never encouraged them to read it either because i'm a really selfish person. i want to keep these books to myself; don't want anyone else to enjoy them.
sadistic me =)
some authors i like...i usually read only classicish books, like Jane Austen, Shakespeare, Charles Dickens(!), P. G. Wodehouse, Alexandre Dumas, Gerald Durrell(rox!),...
but i do read modern people, just that it gets kind of boring, cause now a days there are a lot of yechy books coming out. i like michael hoeye (he writes mouse stories, i know there are already too many of those, but his are good. plus neat little social commentary through freaky Tucka), and i like Lloyd Alexander(the latest vesper holly addition was a real disappointment though), and Brian Jacques(i seem to have an affinity for animal things-but i'm not an animal lover. and i think brian jacques is seriously overdoing the redwall series. all of the stories are about the same nowadays. but the first one was juicy.), and not an author, but i LOVE the princess bride. i'm pretty nuts, i saved every picture i could find of it, and i purchased the soundtrack, movie, book etc.
and of course MWT!!! the absolute LOVE LOVE favourite-when will there ever be a movie of the books?! if that ever happens i might collapse from sheer joy-and WHEN there is a sequel i can't imagine what i'll do!
this is a pretty long intro, hope you people don't mind but i just have this weird desire to go on typing forever(until dinnertime that is)
my wishlist
1. that a movie will be made (a good one at that), and sequel!
2. that i can get the books. i haven't got a single one of them (heartbreak). i borrowed the QoA from the library twice, which is why it is under my table; i read it when i was about 11 first time. and i read it another time in the bookstore, when i sadly had to go halfway through the book...and i borrowed KoA from the library too, only had time to read it twice =( but it's so weird, i wasn't really expecting a sequel, so i didn't realize it was part of the series (my stupidity!) and i was attracted to it primarily because of the cover. i like the cover border thing, and i really like the cover art for QoA. as for the thief, i haven't read it at all! can you believe it?
reason why i haven't bought them myself: i have a guilty conscience. besides a saddish pocketful o' money. i email my friends weekly, reminding them pleasepleaseplease get it for my birthday/Christmas. i'm desperate. and i went to borders bookstore just yesterday and realized QoA wasn't there anymore. chills ran down my spine, and i sincerely hope it comes back. (what if i'm too late? what if they are sold out one day and never come back? no...)
3.final item and this is pretty wicked. i wish Gen hadn't married Irene (sort of). cause i want to marry him! of course it's not terribly practical, and Gen would be very difficult to handle. and oops i hate being girly. haha.
in conclusion, thanks to 'sounis' for existing and thanks to MWT for writing such fantastic books!

Date: 9/8/06 02:59 pm (UTC)"it's really interesting and nice to know people who know Gen" Yeah, it would be fun to REALLY know him. Then again, I would be quite scared too!
I was crossing the road one day and a car sped through the traffic lights and me and my friend almost got runover. My friend was like, "we could have got really hurt, or DIED." I thought, I'm not going ANYWHERE without reading KoA first. Damn everything else,"I WANT that book!" (This was a month before it was out.)
Hmmm...Gen may be taken, but you can have Costis or Stenides if you like. *giggles* Oh, what fun matchmaking! *more giggles*
Stop by the conspiracy room though the timezones often make chats difficult! I think you are 7 hrs ahead of me...
"thanks to MWT for writing such fantastic books!" I COMPLETELY agree!!!!
