I <3 Unshelved. I once made the mistake of buying one of their books directly from the authors and not getting it signed. I have regretted this poor decision ever since.

Heheh, I am nonetheless regretful...getting author signatures is one of my favorite hobbies. That, and writing to them. (Sometimes they write back, squee. MWT wrote to me once, on a Queen of Attolia postcard.) At the moment I am orchestrating a doubly-signed copy of Armageddon Summer by Bruce Coville and Jane Yolen. If that comes through, I will be drooling for weeks.

I don't often collect autographs but it's true that when I do, I collect those from authors - and then greatly treasure them. I have the autographs of some of my favourites. Maybe someday I'll be able to get Megan Whelan Turner's autographs on one of her books, that would be most exciting!
