Hi all! ^_^ I'm so happy I found this community!! My name is Haley, although I'm known as Morwen throughout various parts of the internet. Feel free to call me either! I'm 18, and in my first year of college. Majoring in English...maybe. Or Journalism. Possibly. With a minor in music. ...Perhaps.

I'll probably mostly be lurking through the community--my computer at home has a filter, which normally I'm fine with, but it blocks both the main page of livejournal (which blocks me from signing in and posting, but not from actually reading journals...sort of defeats the purpose!) as well as the chat. (In case you can't tell, I'm rather frusterated with it, but I'll try not to rant. XD) But I'm definately going to be lurking around here and posting when I can from other computers, so don't be surprised if you see me suddenly appear!

I first discovered MWT's books around three(?) years ago after seeing QOA on display at the library and being curious about it. I didn't check it out originally after seeing it, but after I ran out of other books to read I decided to read it.

Next thing you know, I'm up at the wee hours of the morning on a school night with my Dad peeking his head into my room asking why I was still up, looking at me as I quivered and said "I'm almost to the end! I have to finish it! Lemme see how it ends!"

Realized half-way through the book that it was a sequel, so I read The Thief (which I loved possibly even more than QOA...maybe...almost...I can't decide...), then IOTW. Had no idea a sequel to QOA was coming out, dispaired at there being no more MWT books to read, etc....reread the books several time. XD Then, recently, I was looking at the books on Amazon to consider getting them for my friend, Patrick...(we've had a bit of a game for two years now--anytime he owes me anything, I demand that, as payment, he read The Thief. He says he will...eventually. I whine that I read Ender's Game, he whines that he has other books he has promised other people to read, etc etc...finally, the other day he said "I'm surprised you didn't get me that book for my birthday", so now I'm buying him the entire set for Christmas. ...Partially just to spite him.) It was on Amazon that I stumbled across KOA, causing me to stare at my computer screen, then jump up and yell "SHE WROTE A THIRD BOOOOOOK!" and...basically...flip out. XD Got it from the library, read it in two days, went on wikipedia looking for more information (I will NOT miss out on knowing about the sequel again!), found a link to this community there, and...well...here I am.

Whew! Sorry for the long winded story. ^^; I haven't had ANYONE to talk to about the books besides my brother, so my fangirling over the series has hit a dangerous level. XD I look forward to discussing the books with you guys when I can!

XD I had the same thing, I never even knew there was a sequel to the thief until about two years after it was out. And then I only know KoA was coming out because [livejournal.com profile] fabricalchemist stalk--- er, emailed me and told me about it I think...

Anyways, welcome to the Comm! It's nice to meet you!

I know *exactly* how you feel! I was so excited to find this community. Finally, a place where everyone understands my love for some obscure fantasy set in ancient Greece, of all places.

Check out this site to get around filters: http://anonym.to/

Anyway, welcome! Good to have you!

Hi all, this is Haley on her laptop. Still can post anonymously on here. ^^

I'm surprised at the response I got all ready. You guys move quickly! XD

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who somehow missed one of the sequels the first time around. XD I bet none of you guys have ever been so out of it that you thought you were the only fan of something like Lord of the Rings, though. (I'm not joking. I somehow had missed all of the fans of Tolkien's books until a little before the movies came out. Doing that in a small city in Texas will do that to you, I guess. Thank goodness I live in Colorado now! XD)

Not only is it obscure and set in ancient Greece, it's a fictional country set in psuedo-ancient Greece! *grin* Kinda like how one of my favorite animes is set in Germany in the past...yet, it's not Germany. (...Actually, come to think of it, TWO of my favorite animes are set in a fictional area possibly in a country similar to Germany. ...One of them even has the main characters writing in German. XD)

That site's blocked by my filter, but I"m not at all surprised. I've learned they're smarter than that...XD I think I'll try convincing my parents to allow me to buy the customizzable version of the filter so I can unblock LJ...

Welcome! Tell your parents that we are all very nice, if a bit eager and obsessed, and that you need your crack LJ fix.

Go [livejournal.com profile] dannybailey. Rage against the filters.

Welcome! Let's hear it for the college freshmen thinking about majoring in English (much to their parents' despair)! *high-fives*

Good luck finding out how to get on here!

Hi and welcome, filters are really very annoying, the school ones block practically everything so i've given up using them and i'm sticking to the one at home...
I found out about the sequel to QOA through amazon as well, i was looking at the recommendation and suddenly i saw KOA and had to buy it.
(i'm 16 by the way and in my first year of sixth form)
I can talk to some of friends about MWT but they're incredibly obsessive to a point its scary (not that its really very different here ^^;) and i'm suprised they haven't found it yet (unless one of you is holly or lenka in disguise...)

Welcome!
