Toronto Queen of Attolia Lecture!
Mar. 12th, 2012 09:39 amLast semester I took a class on Children’s Literature at the University of Toronto. I spoke to the professor a few times, and really advocated for MWT’s books to be added to the book list! She was familiar with the series and with MWT and ended up adding The Queen of Attolia to the book list this semester! YAY!
I don’t think I can make it, but on Tuesday March 27th from 6-9 she will be lecturing on Howl’s Moving Castle and The Queen of Attolia.I think it would be really interesting to see what she points she chooses to lecture about, as there is so many different directions that she could take! If it's something you think you can make, let me know and I'll send you the class information :)
EDIT: Professor Baker has been made aware of us and has officially welcomed us to the lecture. She just asks that you email her (df.baker@utoronto.ca ) /speak with her before class if you are going to attend, so she knows who is in the class and who isn't. If you are planning on recording her, please speak with her first (and ask permission!) Thanks!

Date: 3/12/12 09:31 pm (UTC)If it really is St. George, then I'll be SO excited, because I'll be taking Children's Lit next semester! Hopefully she doesn't change her mind and take it off.

Date: 3/12/12 09:51 pm (UTC)I'm sure at this point you have a first year english credit done (I think you need one to enter the program) but if you don't have one take Lit for our Time. It's amazing :)

Date: 3/12/12 10:02 pm (UTC)No, I actually don't have a first year English credit. I skipped to second year. I'm required to follow the new program, so maybe the changed it? The only requirements to be in English Minor program is 4.0 full year credits.

Date: 3/12/12 10:58 pm (UTC)Hopefully once the class reads The Queen of Attolia they will read the rest of the series and eventually find Sounis! Sounis is seriously such a great community! I love going back and reading the different comments that have popped up over time as they make me want to re-read the series (again) and find all the little clues that others have already found.
It makes me wish all my favourite books had such a dedicated fanbase!
