Today is the day, Sounis.  I'm all of a flutter. Our own MWT will join us for the first ever global meet-up.  Thank you to all who came by yesterday to test this out. It went off without a hitch.

Here's the timetable. The video conference will begin Tuesday, April 24 at
9:30pm here in London.
10:30UTC
4:30 pm EST(Orlando, New York)
3:30 Central tz(Minneapolis)
2:30 mountain tz(Salt Lake City)
1:30  Pacific tz ( Portland, San Diego)
10:30 next day in New Zealand time zone( I think.  Nz is 12 hours ahead of utc)

I'll be by here at that time to post the link. If you can't be there at the start, come when you can.  Who knows how late it will go. Hour and a half? Or  leave a question, message for MWT or discussion topIC IN THE COMMENTS HERE.
See you soon!

I am going to try like crazy to be there--I may be a bit late. In the meantime, one of the mods has had to approve all posts that include links to sites other than usual ones like Amazon, etc. I was an idiot and did not add you to the list of people who can include other links, and now I can't seem to go back and do that. So, if you tell me the domain of the chat site, I think I can go ahead and add it to the preapproved list. I'm worried that neither Jade nor I will be around right at the time the chat is supposed to start.

Does that make sense? I don't feel like I've explained it well...

I don't think I can come, and I don't think she'll answer any of the question I might have (Or she might but it would be something along the lines of 'Not Telling") - so just say hi to her for me!

Oh... maybe I can sequester myself somewhere at work with a computer at five... Oh...

Well, in the event that I cannot; Megan, you are brazilliant. Your command of Story staggers me repeatedly. You have made me believe in love, and made me believe that love can be written beautifully and honestly, without making me want to throw full cups of coffee out of high-rise windows in hyper-saccharine frustration. I love your perspectives on faith. I love your perspectives on duty. I love Eddis so much, it's marginally weird. I hate that volcano. I am now rambling.

Er. Anyway. Thank you for your beautiful books, and my offer of cookies still stands if you come to New York!

Oh, I was also wondering if Kamet is ever going to resurface, should anyone care to raise that question. Perhaps it can serve as a sneaky segue into a What's Coming Next Because We Need More QT Darnit segment. (Or could have been, had I not just announced that possibility to the world. I plead excessive caffeination.)

UGH I will probably not be able to make it thank you 45-minute commute home arrrrrrgh. IF YOU GET THE CHANCE SOMEBODY ASK FOR ME 1) how much she plans/plots out ahead of time and how much she lets come naturally as she writes, and 2) if she starts at the beginning and writes forward or if she just scene-hops and then bridges them together, i need to know

just you know, if you get the chance and it's not too crazy in there, who knows with these sousinians

That's very similar to a question I was forming, so if I get the chance, I shall ask for us. :)

Hopefully I will be there. That would normally be a PERFECT time but there have been plumbers at my house all day and we have no food in the house that doesn't require cooking. (And I have no water.) My kids ate cereal for lunch. As soon as the plumbers are gone we will run to the store and get some dinner to go somewhere and hopefully I will make it in time. Though I may be late. Why does everything always happen on the same day?????

Since I'll probably be a bit late (or in case something dire happens and I can't make it) I've been wondering recently whether Ms. Turner feels like her understanding of the world of Eddis, Sounis, Attolia, and all those other countries has evolved over time. And if so, how. Is it a case of setting up the foundation in The Thief (with some background that we as readers didn't get to see) for all of the events and people and political interests that then came into play later in the series, but all of it was pre-designed? Was there anything big about the world that she discovered only while working on one of the sequels? Were there any times when she had to readjust her vision of the QT-verse, because she had discovered something new about the history or the politics or the people that contradicted her earlier ideas?

I feel like a lot of authors talk about "discovering" the worlds of their stories as they write, as a metaphor for the new ideas that strike them late in a book or series. But in the past when I've heard Ms. Turner speak she hasn't described her writing process in those terms at all, so I'm curious if she still has those late-in-the-game ideas or if everything is really planned out ahead of time (!).
