Awhile back, you saw info for a LeakyCon Lit Track meetup in Chicago.  Here are the details you've been waiting for, and an exciting announcement.  LeakyCon Lit Track will be held in Chicago from August 9 to 13.  You can read about it here.

The ThiefCon meetup with Megan will take place on Wed., August 8 at 7:00 pm at Anderson's Bookshop in Naperville, Illinois.  Look for more info on Megan's talk and book signing at Anderson's site and on Megan's website.  Afterward, you can stay and chat with Megan and anyone who sticks around.

And now for the exciting, mysterious part.  Megan says:

I'd like to say that I will hand out something SPECTACULAR, but I am slow as usual on the
production front.  So, I will say that I will either hand out something cool, or I will hand out
25 coupons redeemable for a cool thing.

Who's gonna be there?

Oh, man! 25 people are going to get a hand-drawn MAP, signed by Megan, with cool drawings (of elephants, etc.) And I can't be there!

Or -- could it be? A pretty pamphlet with a NEW STORY in it!

Well, enjoy, you 25 lucky people! And I will exercise all my maturity, etc. I will not be jealous at all!

But...we'll be able to see pretty pictures of whatever it is here on Sounis, right?

I'm sure you mean Central Daylight Time, don't you. Not Sun-time, which is real time.

I rue the day I moved away from Naperville to the middle of a cornfield in Indiana. I have fond memories of Anderson's and I'm sad to miss out on this meet-up, but such is life. I'm sure those of you who are able to go will have a lovely time!

I'm in the midst of moving right now and I heartily sympathize with this feeling.

It does! Me & a busload of my friends, I think. (Hopefully not as intimidating as it sounds...)

This is a truly splendid happening. I'm about 30 mins. from Naperville, I have a good friend who lives there, and I'm thinking Anderson's is where I met author Naomi Novik a few years back... I didn't expect to be on such familiar territory. *happy*

Sad thought: I'm in the midst of moving house and my precious books have been boxed up and taken from me. Oh well!

If all goes according to plan I am going to have Bookplates to give away. That's not the cool thing I was hoping for, but it will be nice, I hope, for people who have friends with the books who can't be at the signing, or people whose books are packed up in boxes.

And it's true! I do worry about having a party and having no one come. When I meet people at a Starbuck's it's just as nice if only one or two people show up. But a bookstore puts invests a lot in these things and I hate to let them down by not drawing a crowd the way bigger names do.

I bet if Willow and I show up it will be like an entire BATTALION has arrived. *plots*

Maybe we should employ those "Hello, my name is ______" tags, with our LJ identities. Otherwise I can be quite shy and prone to hiding in corners and under tables...

I never wished I lived in Illinois before...or anywhere near it. :(

But have fun everyone who gets to go!

Alas, I can be there only in spirit. School has started up again. :(

I'll come as the spirit of Claverhouse. He's much more ornamental than I am.

Date: 8/3/12 04:50 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] deirdrej.livejournal.com
Surely not!

I always imagine you to look like your lovely icon -- very ornamental indeed!
But I guess he might be Claverhouse.
And now let me display my ignorance by asking -- who is Claverhouse, exactly? A pseudonym for Legarus the Awesomely Beautiful? Someone in the court of King Charles? See? I am appallingly ignorant.

Oh, well. I will join you in spirit. (And Claverhouse, too, if he is with you ;-D)

My icon is Claverhouse. John Graham of Claverhouse, First Viscount Dundee. "Bonnie Dundee." ( I recommend Rosemary Sutcliff's book). Court of Charles II sometimes. Claverhouse was from Scotland, but occasionally visited London. Charles II and his brother the Duke of York, later James VI & II, liked and respected him. Claverhouse - by then Dundee - died defending James' right to the crown.

No, I don't look anything like my lovely icon. Older, thinner and wimpier hair, and depressingly fatter.

Yes, do tell, I'm willing to be taught as well! (Sadly I won't make it to ThiefCon--though I wish I felt excited to drive six hours to Chicago, I'm don't.)

Usually I have to work late on Wednesdays but this Wednesday will be an exception and I work normal hours....I WILL BE THERE! I'll either be wearing my brown scrubs (might just not go home after work since I work in Naperville) or else I'll be wearing a long white bohemian skirt and some top that I haven't decided on yet.

Can't wait to see everyone!

Um, Hi. I'm Priya, I don't actually have a lj account, but I've been a lurker here for a while. I'm actually attending LeakyCon, so I'll be in the area. How weird would it be if I showed up to Andersons and stuck around for the meet up?

Why should that be weird? :)

Priya, a chance to meet other Sounisians really shouldn't be missed. Send me an e-mail? Maybe we can travel together.

As much as I'd love to take you up on that offer (that would have been awesome) , I'm actually in Barrington at the moment, trying to work out transportation to Naperville.

Question for anyone knowledgeable on the subject: If I purchase ACoK on Anderson's website, to have it signed, do I just pick it up at the bookshop when I'm there for Megan's event? I'm not sure how it works, exactly. I just don't want it to be shipped to me days late, or something. Or, could I just purchase it when I'm there?

So, I'm bringing the party, as promised. :) 7-8 friends/fellow fans with be joining me tomorrow... too many to fit in the aforementioned 'bus', as it turns out, so we're splitting into two different vehicles to get there! Let it not be said that Megan partied alone at ThiefCon Chicago!
