A Picture for the Ghost Stories Challenge!

Hi, everybody!

I saw that the deadline had been extended ....(Thanks! That was so kind :-D). But I also thought I'd better hurry up and try to get my drawing done. So, so, so.........

As with my last challenge drawing, this is a rough sketch. It's an illustration for "Stone Fox: A Ghost Story," which is my first ever fanfic. Or maybe it would be more accurate to say that it's a picture that I imagined, and that inspired me to to write the story.

(I'd like to do it in color, but I probably won't have time)

BTW, just in case you're wondering. I don't specify who the old man actually is -- he looks quite a bit like Gen's grandfather (as I now imagine him, anyway -- thanks, freenarnian!) But I actually conceived of him as a more remote ancestor -- someone who was an architect, as well as a thief. As I see it, his most beautiful creation is in the country of Attolia, and Sophos visits it in his dreams. 

All of which is backstory -- but I didn't want to emulate our favorite author, and say "I'm not telling," because then people might remark, "What's with this 'grandfather' stuff? He's not her grandfather!" Which would make me feel really silly (LOL).

But anyway.....

What a lovely illustration, Deirdre! I know animals can be difficult to draw, but you did a great job with the fox. And I think it's enough to refer everyone to your fic for explanation - maybe youmight want to add a link to this post si people can just click over to see it. Grest job :)

I actually love drawing animals -- and people -- and I'm glad I still remember how. (I haven't drawn anything in ages!) I took your advice and edited the post, and also added a little bit of explanation :-D

I think that does the trick! And now I understand your story much better too - I was initially thinking Gen's grandfather, too, but now I get it! It's the ever-so-great-grandfather who built the library in Attolia, the one who Sophos was talking about when he said, "He dreamed of my library, too." That's why he knew Moira. Gotcha!

I actually know the answer! It's because you posted the link to "Georgian Legend", which inspired Deirdre to draw this guy. :) (I'm Deirdre's sister, btw.)

Yes! I guess you didn't see my comment about that video (which is now one of my absolute faves!)

I thought the grandfather in the video was perfect for Gen's grandfather ;-D
