Then I have a treat for you. :) Thankfully my family members know of my many deep and abiding loves, because as they were listening to this particular station (Classical 89.1) that I really enjoy, they heard the magic words "Megan Whalen Turner interview" spoken and speed dialed me faster than Han Solo can pull a gun against Greebo.

Needless to say I planted my butt in a chair instantly (and loved it, static and all). But better STILL, this great radio station has put the entire half hour interview up for download. I'm already looking into the rest of their series of "Thinking Aloud" programs. So naturally I had to share the good news. We've got each other's backs here. ^_^

I love the term "plot-armor" and also that Gen doesn't have it. Also Megan is awesome. Thanks for linking this!

Yeah, that's something I really respect about her as an author. Also, it struck me how she said "people who are 13 or 14..." instead of 'kids' or 'young adults' or whatever. I love talking to these ages, they are some of the most thoughtful and creative people I know. I haven't forgotten yet that I was one of them not so long ago! :) In fact I sometimes fear I was a lot more thoughtful and creative then than I am now.( oh dear!) But why is it so easy to clump them in an 'other' category the moment we're old enough to think they're cute or annoying or whatever? Lots of people I know my age or older are also cute or annoying, and I don't feel the need to treat them as something other than a person. Okay... so yeah... just a long train of thought there, launched by her wording.

Great interview... she never ceases to impress me with her approach to writing and to answering reader's questions.

We have the same kind of radio station where I am (It's called classical MPR here)! This is off topic and nothing to do with mwt, but the voices on those classical stations are all so smooth and buttery. They must have auditions to pick out the right voices or something.

Thank you for sharing, I really enjoyed that! I was surprised by just how interesting and thoughtful she was.

I particularly liked her comments about how she defines YA and what she sees as the purpose of YA books. That's not a perspective I've come across before.

Terrific interview, thanks so much for sharing it, Heather! Megan is so ridiculously eloquent. I feel like I'd be the elocutionary equivalent of 'all thumbs' if I ever got to talk to her.

(I kind of hope she doesn't hate Harry Potter, though!)

Seriously, thank you so much for the link; what a great interview!

This is fabulous; thank you so much for sharing it! In addition to the mwt-awesome, the archive itself looks like a treasure-trove!

I really expect a lot out of my readers, which is why Stephanie Meyers sells a lot more books than I do.

OMG, that just CRACKED ME UP!!!
