Readaloud?

I was thrilled to find the post with the links to the fan readaloud on this site, because my favorite thing ever is to listen to well-loved books while I work on my art (I'm an art major.) I listened to every chapter that was posted, but I was severely disappointed when I realized the last post was in 2007! I don't have immediate access to the audiobooks all the time (the library keeps insisting I return them for some reason) and also I'm not a huge fan of the reader's voice and I LOVE to hear other fans' interpretations.

I was wondering if there was interest in re-starting that beautiful initiative. If so, I would be more than thrilled to read a chapter or two. If it was stopped for copyright reasons or something, I'd like to know so I can consider purchasing the audiobooks.

As one of the fan audiobook contributors, we're very glad you enjoyed it! :) And welcome to Sounis, the coolest place on the internet!

The fan audiobook production actually didn't stop in 2007. The post was just made in that year, and since then, the mods edited the original post to update the information. The production hasn't stopped, it just moves at the rate of evolution. :) Since it's volunteer, Sounis members get busy or loss track of it or they're no longer on Livejournal. I think they're are some chapters for CoK that haven't been claimed yet, and I'm sure Checkers, our moderator, would be happy to assign you a chapter.

And speaking of which... I have an unfinished chapter for A Conspiracy of Kings that I should work on. Note to Sounis: never accidentally put your recorder in storage when you move. XD

Welcome! Hmm, it looks like the last new readaloud chapter was added in June 2011. For shame, sounis !

Time to get busy, folks! Get those chapters recorded. And Alyssa, as far as I'm concerned, other than ninedaysaqueen 's chapter from ACoK, any of the unrecorded chapters can be yours. I'll take the slacker's name off and add yours, if you are dying to read a specific chapter. Just post a comment on the original Readaloud post (http://sounis.livejournal.com/134717.html), telling me which chapter you'd like to snag.

Checkers! I think I volunteered to read something originally (the prologue to KoA?) and then never got around to it since those were the days of terrible microphones and what not. However, I would be more than happy to read a chapter or two now, if there are still unclaimed ones. Unfortunately I can't see the original readaloud post because I'm lazy and don't feel like signing up for an LJ account. (And apparently my mother has changed her password at some point in the last five years...I even tried logging in as Costis since I had his login information buried in my email, but it wouldn't let me. Sadness.) Anyway. Send me an email if there are open chapters, please. (My email address is firstname.lastname@gmail.com; I have the same last name as my mother.)

Also also, unrelated but I loved your comment on the Miles post. I had gone to the post to say exactly the same thing. Hope all is well with you and Mr. Checkers!

Yeah, I have a chapter in QoA that I signed up for (16 maybe? or 14?) that I recorded about half of and then lost the audio file and never got around to redoing it. Maybe that can be my project for the next couple weeks...

On a related topic, then, do any Sounisians know how to stop those weird little clicking noises that the bottom of your tongue makes when you talk? I never noticed my mouth made that noise until I was recording. It's sort of distracting. But I guess the recordings don't have to be perfect...
