Hello Sounisians!
I've been lurking for some time - you may have seen my comments on a few entries. I only became a fan after the release of A Conspiracy of Kings, so I'm a relative newbie. I have read the books 2-3 times each, and KoA is in my top five books list. Other favorite authors incude Rosemary Sutcliff, C.S. Lewis, and Dorothy Sayers. I'm not on LJ much anymore, but this is the most vibrant MWT fandom site, so... here I am.
I'm not sure what else is traditionally included in this sort of post. Please excuse my embarrassing ignorance!

I do have three icons to share:

which anyone may use. Credit would be appreciated.

And then I have a question for all you experienced fans: how far (or short) ahead of time can we expect the next book title? Release date? Cover art? I'm as hungry for the next installment as the rest of you!

Sutcliff, Lewis, and Sayers!

And beautiful icons.

I think it's safe to say, with an intro like that, you are very much welcome here! :)

To answer your question (and there may be others who can answer it more reliably): I believe we will have the next book as soon as, and no sooner, than our beloved authoress finishes knitting that Infinity Scarf of Destiny (or was it Doom?). Or maybe when she manages to match all her socks. Or maybe once all of her children have survived to adulthood. Or we run out of cookies. No, scratch that. Sounis will never run out of cookies. You could outlast the apocalypse in this community. We're in it for a long haul. Here, have a cookie, and join us while we wait!

And so, we discuss other books While She Knits things in a mauvish shade of pinkey russet. Somehow we've managed to keep each other sane over the long, long, long waits between books.

I know, right? I was thinking the same thing! XD If anything, Sounis has kept me insane for the past 2 years.

I was without regular internet access for a few months last year, and Sounis was one of the places I always made sure to check whenever I got the chance. It was often the highlight of my day (or week, or weeks!). :)

I think by keeping us insane, we, in a turnabout way, stay sane? :)

Reverse psychology at its best.

I think that it gives us a chance to excercise our insanity in an appropriate forum so it doesn't leak out in places where insanity doesn't go over so well......like, you know, work, school, etc XD

Welcome, welcome! No worries, there's no wrong way to introduce yourself. We're happy you're here. :)

Megan's track record is to release a new book every four to six years.

The Thief (October, 1996)
The Queen of Attolia (April, 2000)
The King of Attolia (January, 2006)
A Conspiracy of Kings (March, 2010)

As you can see, she's released two out of the three sequel books fours years apart, and only KoA took six. I have a theory that KoA took longer, because it was released with a whole new set of covers for the entire series. However, that's just a personal theory. I figure if the next book is going to be released in 2014, we'll hear about it sometime this year; because we were notified about CoK ten months before it came out. Time will tell.

For now, we're stuck munching on magical cookies while we read the recs from the While She Knits posts, and scrutinizing every detail in each book so often that Megan will eventually have to feel sorry for us and write faster. :)

Wow, that's some pretty awesome literary taste, and icons. Also a lurker, but perhaps I'll have to do something like this soon!

Welcome!!! I, too, picked up the books only after ACoK was released, so still relatively new to the bandwagon. And huzzah, you've managed to read all of them 2-3 times each?? Well I see I need to do some work!

Welcome! Great icons. I love "Keep Calm and Steal Peace". With those favorite authors you're in like Flynn!

Years, my friend, years.
The woman appears to think she has a life outside of providing books for us, a stance I object to very strongly.

Now I'm hearing the song from the movie "Oliver":
