It's been 3 1/2 years since A Conspiracy of Kings was released. Just in case anybody was losing count.

I was reading a review over at Goodreads about book 5 in the series (basically, it's a bunch of people all saying "oh please oh please oh please we want another book now!", and I concur most heartily).

I'm about to pop from holding my breath. I want to know what happened to Costis. I want to know who Sandy is. I want another love scene between Gen and Irene. I want the Minister of War again, just because he and Gen together amuse me and it would be fun to see him at a court where his annoying pest of a beloved son is king. I want to know who's offering odds that Sophos and Eddis will have a child who will have a little snub nose. I want to see Nahuseresh have his miserable little forked-red-bearded face rubbed in the *dirt*!

And what do *you* want?

I posted, just after we found out that someone in the kitchen was putting sand in the King's food, that while I didn't know anything at all about her, I did know that her name was Alexandra.

And they call her Sandy for short.

Because I have a sick mind.

Another thing: I've just been re-reading KoA, and Lady Heiro has just told the King that he should dance with her friend, Lady Eunice. And I'm remembering that instead of dancing with the women Ornon pointed out, Gen was dancing with the wallflowers, and the younger daughters, etc. So - are we going to see that there's this whole plot among the ignored and despised at court? Because that would be *wonderful*!

I've been meaning to post and reveal.....

Megan is working on Book 6 (yes SIX!) while Book 5 is fermenting to perfection in her back brain. Sorry, but I can't remember if she said book 5 was finished or not, or just needed tweaking. IIRC she said Book 6 would be thick, a doorstopper, and that it might be 2 books published a month or two apart. But since it's NOT FINISHED, it's hard to say how long it will end up being.

She did reveal that Gen and Attolia's first children will be triplets, that Costis will marry Sandy, that the volcano will erupt forcing Helen and Sophis to marry sooner rather than later so her people can take shelter in Sounis. JUST KIDDING. She was very mean and didn't say A THING about the plot or characters or ANYTHING except what I wrote in the paragraph above ;-(.

She was having trouble with book 5, IIRC, so she decided, what the heck, she could be working on Book 6 while Book 5 was gestating! Brilliant, huh?

My HOPE is both books (or 3) will all come out at the same time so we can gorge ourselves to death!!

If this is a wishlist, I want a random cameo from Gen's siblings. Anything on Temenus and/or the sisters (since Stenides was featured in a short story). And more details on his mom. She remains mysteriously awesome.

Well, yessssss, but don't forget Stenides' biceps; he may have appeared in a short story, but there is a fairly large contingent on Sounis that would be delighted to see them him again.

While I'm doing poetry, let me dig out my limerick from several years ago:

I just want another book. Like, honestly, I think I'd be happy with anything MWT decides to give us... I'm like some starving dog, grateful for any and all table scraps.
I guess my ultimate wish is that she will finally cave to pressure of being beloved and do a US tour. I live in Oregon, and I would just die of happiness if she would come anywhere in the northwest, but who knows how likely that is...

Oh, .... If MWT would even put a short story in an anthology somewhere ... Of course I WANT another BOOK! But really, I'd just like something wonderful to read. (Well, right now I'm reading the new Nancy Farmer and --finally! Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. So I have wonderful things to read -- just NOT ENOUGH! I want more Helen & Sophos & Irene & Eugenides & Costis & Boagus & MOW & Agape & other cousins and ....)

Book 6, hmmmm? I really hope that means book 5 will be out soon!

BTW, we know that Eugenides knows who Sandy is -- will be do something about her in book 5? I sincerely hope so!

Oh, and I also want more Phresine. She tells awesome stories.

Don't think book 5 will necessarily be out soon. It's not perfect yet and I'm not sure Megan knows how much work needs to be done on it to make it so.

She just decided to work on 6 while book 5 ferments.

Oh my gosh! If MWT is really close to being done with the fifth book I might just die of happiness! Actually I won't because then I wouldn't be able to read it... AAAHHHH!!!!! I want to read it soooo bad! Far as wish list... I seriously want to see Gen manage to strangle Nahuseresh with only one hand and I would love the MOW to get a nice juicy role in this next one. And I think it is about time Gen and Irene start having some heirs to the Attolian throne. Basically, I will accept anything from anyone's POV at this point. My whole year is made at the prospect of her being close to releasing a fifth book.

Even news about a book with problems is better than no news at all. I would happily accept a release date a year from now so long as we have a release date at all. Any news from an author as closed lipped as MWT is dew from heaven falling on parched earth!

(Basically, my main wish is to live long enough to read the whole series. But don't worry, MWT, if you're reading this. I'm planning on living a little while yet. Take your time, take your time. (Just not TOO much time). )!

I am definitely going to get old while waiting for book 5, but who cares?

Even though I have to admit, it didn't occur to me that most of Sounis would be too young to recognize "Wishlist." Pearljam, anybody? Soundtrack to "Lola rennt?", otherwise known as "Run, Lola, Run."(Well OK that one is a bit obscure....)

I am an aged_crone, and am not too young to recognize your song; I'm too old, or, if I'm not, my tastes are even older than I am. So - no, I won't write for your song.

However, when I posted this you'll notice the music I mentioned was I Started a Joke. By the Bee Gees. Haunting, lovely melody; kind of odd lyrics. So here are some Attolia lyrics for it. (Rough, but it's late and I need to go to sleep).

First of all, I have to join everyone in squealing over Peanut's news, because OH MY GOSH!!!!

Second, a wishlist... Hmm...

I want Costis. Gen is sick, and he needs to be with Gen. COSTIS.
I want the MoW. Even if it's just a cameo, he needs to be there.
I want Gen to win more people over. We know not everyone loves him. I want him to be more of his tricky self and change minds.
I want to see Nahuseresh completely crushed, though this probably won't happen until book six.
I want more amazing myths.
I would love to have a really surprising yet perfect narrator a la one of Pol's children or Nahuseresh's servant (whose name I know but forgot!)
I want more Heiro.
