Wow, is one of you responsible for this amazing piece of cross-referencing? If so, awesome job. That list is huge fun to read through. LOL at categorizing a certain central relationship under "The Masochism Tango."* Yep, that fits. :)

*A Tom Lehrer song that my parents introduced me to when I was a kid, among many of his other funny tunes. So that's extra coolness points from me there.

I attended my first (and, Lord willing, only) LOTR movie marathon this past Saturday. (We did the extended versions. That's a combined run time of 11 hours and 23 minutes, according to Sources, plus breaks between each disc for food and physical relief. It lasted until 2:30 am; I was up until after four.) It had been such a long time since I had seen the movies that I think I had reverted to thinking almost exclusively of the book when I thought of LOTR, and seeing the movies as a secondary addition.

Which made me feel that I really should read LOTR again (I used to read it every year, but that was from ages nine to thirteen. The last time I read any significant part of the Lord of the Rings was when I was fifteen, which is preposterous, because I'm now twenty-four). But the copy I'd want is at my family's house. The boxed set I have with me in my apartment is not the Correct one for such a reunion. :P

Indeed it does (and did). Had it been up to me, the movies would have been spread over several days, but it was my best friend's birthday party, so after advising her that it would be a grueling endeavour, I felt it my duty to devote myself to the cause (and remember to bring some rope).

Yes, my one-volume is the edition I want! My first copy. Since then I've amassed various others, and counting the one-volume I have six editions of The Return of the King, including the Alan Lee illustrated one, which is marvellous. But I need to return to that which is best, and so I appreciate our one-volume solidarity.

I will carefully avoid something that is a black hole that consumes time, but re: Tom Lehrer I will say:

Poisoning Pigeons in the Park! I love it!

Well, if you're going to waste time browse on the internet, it's a much better place then most. At least, it stimulates thought and discussion in regards to writing and storytelling, but it also provides an endless supply of witty entertainment. Kind of like watching cat educational videos on Youtube.

Thus, once you've logged on, good luck getting back off! XD
