Here's another question for you--and perhaps it won't be answered definitively until MWT herself sheds light on it.
At the end of QoA, when Gen goes to the solarious and challenges his gods for having "forsaken" him into the hands of Attolia and the Medes, an unknown goddess answers him (essentially intervening between him and the wrath of Hephestia). Here are the clues to her identity:
1) Gen sacrificed to her once
2) She may have something to do with water
Any thoughts on who she might be?
Additionally, there's something she said that might be another clue. When she tells Gen that his god is The Thief, she also says, "no god is all-powerful, not even the Great Goddess." I took this to mean that neither the Thief nor Hephestia had anything to do with betraying Gen, but that the unknown goddess that answered him was actually the one to orchestrate everything (hence why she said no god is all-powerful/all-controlling), and the Thief and Great Goddess just didn't intervene. Perhaps this means that she is somehow tied to the kingdom of Attolia? Just as Hephestia is to the kingdom of Eddis (and therefore was the one who sent Eddis and Gen dreams about the Sacred Mountain blowing up)?
Hope this makes for a good discussion on this goddess's identity, but if this has been answered before, just point me to that thread!

Ha, I once asked Megan who that intervening goddess was and she said (and I quote), "Not telling." Don't Attolians worship other gods? Newer ones? Atktolia never seemed to think they were real, but maybe they, like the Eddisian gods, are.

I have no thoughts on who she might actually be, having no real knowledge of any of the minor Greek deities from which to form a theory, but I like the idea of all the Big Plans not having anything to do with Hephestia. I honestly have always read these as her doing to save the Eddisians from hot lava and hot-mess Medes but I could quite easily be convinced to entertain other theories. And, going on that theory, we would have to assume that Interfering Goddess and Moira are pals, right? Is Moira the messenger of ALL gods or just, you know, the big ones?
