Re-Intro and Meet Up!

Hello, all! I used to be on here as thelasteddis--the_alexiad is my general internet-wide handle so when I had to make a new account (password? what password?) I changed it. However, I assume there are a lot of new people so... I'm a long time fan of the books, Eddis enthusiast (those pics are from SEVEN YEARS AGO), and student filmmaker.

NOW ONTO THE EXCITING NEWS... tiegirl and I have realized that both of us will be in Washington D.C. at the same time, and that MWT might be as well. As such, we'd like to cordially invite the Sounisians, and MWT if she'd like to attend, to a MEET UP!!!

Let's figure out a day and time that works for people in the D.C. area!

I don't know. Things are... weird here, and I haven't reread the books in a long time. And reading down the comments, I see a lot of χάος in the date planning, so it's best if I don't try to add my own! Whatever date the rest o' yez settle on, I'll see if I can make it. And maybe combine it with a visit to my cousin in Rockville, Md.

I DON'T WORK EITHER OF THOSE WEEKENDS! Now if only we knew about Ms. Turner...Other days I am available are: 6/11, 6/15,7/1.
Unfortunately I volunteered my brother and his house for the meet-up, but he and his wife are away in Switzerland both of those weekends, so no gourmet food from their kitchen. We might be able to use their house??
Alexiad, what about July? Kevin (my brother) volunteered the 11th and 12th of July. Are you still in D.C. then?

So far it's looking like the weekend of the 27th/28th of June would be best for most people. Does that work for you?

WHAT WHAT OMG WHAT DC

I am in DC! I can manage this next weekend, the 27/8th of June, the 11/12th of July, and hte 1/2 of August. Unfortunately, the rest of my summer is gone to a residential camp that I'll be attending the rest of the weeks/weekends. But dang, woudl I ever love to meet up with some other Sounisians, not to mention The Author Herself :D!

Um. Just here to completely screw things us. I am going to be in San Francisco for ALA at the end of the month. I -will- be in DC next week, though and would have time for a super brief meeting, which wouldn't be very much fun for people who have driven a million miles to say hi.

Maybe August? Have you considered August? August is nice.

I'm sorry! Everything kinda crumbled, huh? But August is cool! (well, not really, certainly not in Washington D.C.). But the house is air conditioned. And Kevin and Tacie (brother, sister-in-law) are seriously into cooking and food and stuff. Wasn't there a Greek-ish themed meet-up in Utah? Could we do something like that? Pot-luck of a Greek-ly fashion? And if not, of course there are cool museums all over D.C., and coffee shops, and book stores, etc.

And, alexiad, as an aside, we could probably arrange to meet with a few peeps on our own if anyone is interested. I just don't know what we would talk about. (JUST KIDDING)

Oh, I just considered: pot luck probably not so easy if you're traveling. So honestly just whatever. K & T and their daughter Erin love to cook. Every cooking gene in the family bypassed me (the only girl) and settled in all three of my brothers.

Note: I introduced QT to Erin and at least two of her friends when they were maybe early teen-ish. They'd now be 26, 27. They all, of course, loved the books.

I think I have plans then, but they might fall through. I'll see, but don't plan on me. I also actually live in NYC, so I'd have to see if one of my DC friends could host that weekend.

It's been like five years since my last Sounisian meet-up, though, so I'd love to make one work!
