Guess who I had lunch with yesterday?

Look! Look! Here we are.

It was a bit last minute, but Megan and I met up for lunch and a chat. We had a great time and, although I have no book news to report, her new hairstyle really is awesome.

We did talk about her upcoming trip to the ALA annual conference in San Francisco in a couple of weeks. Even if you are not a member of the ALA, if you're in the area you should go just to the exhibits. A ticket is $60 and that gets you entrance to all the vendors, including lots and lots of publishers with freebies, author signings, and swag. AND you can see MWT live and in person.

I am a member of ALA, but don't have funds to travel to SF. I was a little disappointed before, but now I'm very much so!

I've never been to Annual, but I have been to Midwinter once. I was still eligible for student rates then, could get there via one of the cheap-o buses, and I stayed with my sister.

Also, your icon is making me realize that I really need a librarian icon of my own...

I just convinced my library to pay for Midwinter--if only I had known, I would have saved my pleas for Annual! Alas, alas.

I convinced my institution to pay for one of the smaller, more specialized conferences earlier this year. It was fantastic (I love any chance I can have to geek out about librarianship), but the freebies and swag consisted mostly of things like pens, and there were no author signings. Seeing MWT again would have been way cooler!

Awww! Thanks, you two! I appreciate your thoughtfulness in sharing!

P.S. What beautiful lighting in that picture. You both look radiant.

Her hair does look great! That's a lovely picture, thanks for sharing! I only wish she was coming to SoCal as well as NorCal...
