A birthday party for The Thief?

(While we’re all waiting for the HGE to open...)

Following on from canonisrelative’s post about The Thief being 20 on 1st October this year, how does anyone fancy going about having a party for the occasion?

My initial idea was that we could all bake a cake including at least one ingredient mentioned in the books. A quick flick through has shown these to be:
oatmeal
yoghurt
oranges
honey
figs
grapes
goat’s milk
cream cheese
coffee
apricots
dried fruit
bread (bread-and-butter pudding, I suppose?)
excluding, of course, the unbakeables like wine and olives and celery...

If anyone would care to add to this, please do!

So, should we all just bake, and then have a grand photo posting? If so:
when?
Where?
And do we post recipe suggestions before hand?

Furthermore, any ideas for regional gatherings to eat cake? (I’m out of this one, because I really do live up a mountain with a bunch of goats)

And how are we going to get MWT to drop by and, as canonisrelative said, Not Tell Us Anything!

Of course, if no-one else wants to take this seriously, I will just eat all the cake myself don’t mind :)

This sounds like such a fun idea! Though I would suggest to people to make mug cakes or a cup cake if they are worried a whole cake won't get eaten. Plus, if you don't have an oven, mug cakes can be made in the microwave. A baking event, plus a community re-read of TT and maybe a live role playing chat using just TT characters. I could organize the chat and re-read.

I think opening up these events say September 1st would make the most sense, and the live chat and maybe a winner of the baking event accouncement could go down on October 1st. The winner could be the person who uses the most ingredients.

This would be so much fun! Yah!

In a tentative sending-out-feelers kind of way, how many Sounisians might be interested in coming to a Thief anniversary party in southwestern Ontario (Canada) on the last weekend of September?

I can't promise to put you all up in my house (though I wish I could!) but there are lots of lovely B&Bs, hotels and motels in my home town of Stratford, as well as a renowned Shakespearean theatre (https://www.stratfordfestival.ca/) which is currently running some great plays (including an adaptation of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe which I'm reliably informed is delightful), so anyone so inclined could always make a weekend of it, and late September's a beautiful time of year to visit this very pretty town even if you're not a playgoer.

If there were a few people interested, we could maybe have a celebratory dinner at one of the local restaurants and come back to my house for Thief Cake of some sort. Perhaps (hey, let's shoot for the moon here) I could even even work out some kind of local or nearby bookstore event and invite MWT to come and join us...!

Anyway, like I said this is all just putting out feelers, but if there are enough folks interested I shall try to look into it more seriously, so please let me know if a late-September trip to Stratford, Ontario (https://www.visitstratford.ca/) might be doable for you!

I wish I was there! Anyone near Vancouver/BC's Lower Mainland?

I'll probably end up making two cakes, or else one cake with many layers and maybe too many flavours :) Do we post them to this thread, or does whoever bakes first start a new one and we all add to that?
