Since people seem (understandably) tentative to give their addresses out over the internet, so Bear and Phila came up with two good alternatives. We could do an icon-exchange, or recommend books to each other. We could take a vote, or we could just do both, which might make the most people happy. Two different sign-ups would be slightly more complicated but I don't really mind setting them up. So, unless anyone has any objections, people can e-mail me (octopirock@yahoo.com) with their lj account name, and which exchange they want to do (or both.) I'll mix people's names up (unless someone else wishes to do it) and give everyone the name of their person in a week, to give people enough time to respond.

Edit: The spell check doesn't check the subject line, and I managed to make no less than two mistakes in eight words...

This is completely unrelated to your post, but I had to tell you that ever since I first saw your name I have been cudgeling my brain trying to figure out, "what's a pirock, and why are there eight of them?" If was only yesterday that it dawned on me that I should be separating the i and the r, not the o and the p!

What I had in mind was something less secret-santa-y, and more communal: Everyone posts book recommendations for everyone else. I appreciate your willingness to take this on as a project, octopirock, but I'm not sure it's necessary. And I would rather end up with a big list of books, from many sources, than a few titles from one other person. I would suggest everyone (everyone who wants to play, that is) come up with about 3 titles they think others here might like (preferably some less-obvious ones), and simply have a place to post those. Or if you really want to, you could make the suggestions into one big list and eliminate repetition.

Okay, that does sound like less work. I'm not sure how we could make that work though. If we made a post where everyone gave their reccomendations, and then asked one of the mods to link to it from the info people could probabily find it relatively easily.

I forgot to respond earlier, sorry! I'm up for either/both an icon exchange or book recommendations. I think a post where everyone included their recs would work fine, and there is a tag for book recommendations, so it would be relatively easy to find later on.
