The time is drawing nigh. We have one more week to speculate on what's going to happen in Thick As Thieves. No spoilers, please, from anyone who has read an advance copy.

What do you think? What will Kamet be like? What other characters are going to show up? Will there be a pet monkey named Bob? Make a prediction and we'll see who's right, in about a week.

I feel bad saying this, but I've never really paid attention to Kamet, so I don't have any expectations about him at all. >< And I think I would rather keep a clean slate and be surprised, really. I'm really hoping to see Costis again though.

I predict there will be a zebra named Zebby! He'll become best friends with Ellie, the elephant, and together they rescue Kamet from that guy with the weird facial hair using only the power of friendship! <3

Touched by the power of friendship displayed by these amazing animals, a pirate fleet adopts Kamet and he becomes a pirate king like in The Princess Bride and teaches a parrot to talk.

Zebby and Ellie get seasick, so they decide to strike out on their own to have wacky adventures in a series of spin off children's books.

Since the Mede Empire was such a drag, Kamet cruises over to Attolia with his fleet to pick up the squad. They're friends now that Nahuseresh has been stepped on by elephants. Together they become the pirates who don't do anything!

Except for Irene who gets bored not doing anything and learns to duel with a penknife! She takes ten men along to the Mede Empire and becomes the pirate queen of the Middle Sea.

Meanwhile, Gen is busy perfecting his pirate talk and teaches the parrot a bunch of bad words he shouldn't know. This annoys Kamet, who orders Gen to be thrown overboard.

Sophos and Helen protest because he can't swim with just one hand, so Kamet reconsiders and takes them all to a resort in the continent but Gen has to stay by himself on the ship with the foul-mouthed parrot. Costis waits with him muttering something about honor in a corner.

What? You didn't ask me for serious theories! XD

I predict that everyone will have discussed and dissected it to exhaustion in secret by the time my boring old non-ARC non-Prime Amazon copy arrives on my doorstep, where I will be parked and waiting to grab it out of the hands of the unsuspecting delivery man.

Anyone wanting extra material to speculate with might want to check out Megan's Tumblr too, as it is just possible that one or two of the images posted recently relate to Thick as Thieves
Other than a good term to describe all the lovely authors at YALLWest, of course!
;D

The thing I love the Queen's Thief Series so much for is how there's SO MUCH political strife and plot detail like... to the point where the minority of the pages seem to be about the characters themselves and YET she has the most complex, multidimentional characters known to humanity just leaping from the pages. == > So MUCH said in so few words, in one action, in a tiny gesture....

The four monarchs are so perfectly in contrast with each other in both appearance, personality, actions... all the while being completely the same and and I foresee the characters becoming... more like their opposite monarch on an additional level while still retaining the outer expression of their personalities that we know them for.

For example... Both Eugenides and Irene "wear masks." Their outward expression is a lie in total contrast to who they are inside. Eugenides in how he can verbally articulate the truth ("I am mortally wounded." he says, without sounding wounded at all. (while he actually WAS mortally wounded)... Irene... well we know Irene's mask that is made of stone thickening and thickening to the point where she almost gave her whole heart away before Eugenides saved her from herself. They both wear masks, and yet the expression of those masks are in total contrast.

Perhaps in the 5th and 6th books Irene will let her guard down so much that she expresses herself more like Eugenides (with the same playfulness) and Eugenides will express himself more regally (and yet Irene's version of playful and Eugenides version of regal will be completely different from that of their spouse)...

And perhaps Irene will earn for herself the very things that she admires in Eddis (and was jealous of Eddis for being able to be)... Wish I had more time to add to this~....
