Hephestia costume speculations...

So, I decided that for Halloween this year, it's finally time to do a Thief themed cosplay. I'm going to go for Hephestia, rather than Attolia, since her clothing is probably more Greek-like (cuz she's from an older time) than Byzantine-like, and therefore easier to replicate. 

THAT said, in "The Thief" when Gen sees her for the first time in the maze temple, she's wearing a red velvet "robe", not specifically a "peplos" like Moira. I'm probably still going to go for a peplos-style gown, unless someone has another idea of what a Greek velvet robe would look like....? On the new map, it looks like Hephesita is just wearing something similar to a peplos. What to do, what to do.....

I was also thinking about jewelry....On the map, Hephestis has some like of curlicue necklacy thing, which I'll have to think about. I also see that she's wearing small simple earrings. *GASP* Hey, remember how in "The Thief" Gen noted that Attolia wore a woven band with rubies to hold her hair back, in imitation of Hephestia? And then in "The Queen of Attolia" he gave her those all-important ruby earrings to match her headband? How have I never realized that he MUST have gotten or commissioned earrings to look like those that he had personally seen Hephestia herself wearing? 

20 years later and I'm STILL noticing things and making connections....

That's gorgeous and it looks pretty easy to replicate, if you had the right fabric.

Woah, nice observation about Gen knowing the design of the earrings he gave to Attolia because he'd seen it on Hephestia. Lol, maybe because Gen is so particular about his earrings, that must be why he'd found Attolia falling so short of Hephestia when he saw her the first time XD.

Though in all seriousness, I remember being struck by Gen's honest assessment of Attolia. Where others feared her, were in awe of her, or thought her beautiful, this comparison allowed Gen to see early on how human she was, and instead of loving her less for it... well, we know how that ended. :D
