Apr. 12th, 2019 10:04 amEvery time J.K. Rowling shares more details about her Harry Potter characters that no one asked for, I get more and more grateful for our own dear Megan's penchant for "Not Telling".
That's all.

Date: 4/15/19 12:42 am (UTC)I liked King of Scars. Enough to read the entire ebook in a week on my tiny phone screen. (My eyes! D:) I hadn't visited the Grishaverse in so long, and I had no memory of placing a hold on KoS, but there it was! I found Nikolai's POV really touching, somehow. He reminded me almost of Sophos... er, if Sophos were a talkative silver-tongued ex-pirate with oodles of outward self-assurance. OK, so, not very like Sophos at all. XD I guess it was the inner doubt and earnest desire to be a good king that drew the comparison. Also, the slow burn you know what with you know who. (Or maybe you don't, because you haven't read it yet. Nevermind!) Suffice to say I'm a sucker for slow burn everything. But I also heard Grisha fans who weren't happy with that element of the story, so, maybe I need to re-read the other books. The inclusion of one of the Six of Crows cast was exciting in prospect but a bit meh in reality. Those chapters just felt unrelated to the rest of the story, and annoying when I wanted to get back to Nikolai and crew. And by the end, the story seemed to be getting a bit out of hand, and the end itself just... What. What?! Noooo. But I won't say more, because, spoilers.
