"Personally, I like it much better when someone else does the decision making. That way you have legitimate grounds to whine and complain. I tend to find both whining and complaining quite interesting and amusing, though sometimes--unfortunately--it's hard to choose which one of the two I want to do."

Sounds like Gen...

... but it's Alcatraz Smedley (from the vs. the Evil Librarians series by Brandon Sanderson). Alcatraz is very much like a young (probably pre-Thief) Gen. Excpect his Talent is breaking things, not stealing them.

This was definitely taken from Gen's diary!

I love playing the incorrect quotes game. Let's see:
"Whenever a pact is being made between two powers, however harmless it may seem, one always has to ask oneself who is supposed to get murdered here." - Relius (actual source Otto von Bismarck).
BTW, its me, LaSerpe, commenting anonymously because my account got suspended. In case you were wondering, I don't know why either. Well, I send an email to the support service and now I'm waiting.

Is it bad that I actually agree with this quote? I don't like being in charge, because everyone complains about you and you have nothing to complain about. Well, except for the people complaining about you. XD

I feel like Sophos would also relate to the part about letting someone else make the decisions. It takes him the whole of ACoK to decide that he wants to make decisions, and then realize he has the motive, means, and opportunity to do so. (Akretenesh: Wait, what?!)

This quote also makes me think of Murderbot, and now I'm realizing why I fell so hard for that character. I mean, Sophos basically hacked his governor module. And whining about how much they don't care while actually caring very much is something Gen and Murderbot have in common. (No, I don't write crossover fic, but clearly, I could.)

Now that is some crossover fic I'd definitely read. Somehow, I feel like Gen and Murderbot would hate each other. At first. Then they'd come to reluctant admiration for the way each of them can slither out of doing what they don't want to do. Then, they'd be forced together to use their superior brains to fight the bad guys and would become bros. Murderbot could throw punches and break arms and Gen could use his sword.

I'm liking this idea more and more.

Glad I'm not the only one! ;)
