An Amphora and a Temple #whereseugenides
Jul. 16th, 2020 11:00 pmSo, a couple of days ago was my birthday and what better way to celebrate than to go to a beautiful location and take my heroes with me?

Also, the thing you see there in front of the book is a lock. This I did not do for symbolism points :). It was just a very windy day and I grabbed the next best heavy thing from my bag in order to prevent my favourite book from being blown into the water. Because The Queen of Attolia can't swim. (I'll see myself out ;))

And a wayard pavillon that looks just like a small temple :) Yes, on the outside its more baroque, but the inside ...

... it's perfect.

Your translation is absolutely correct, by the way. I like the german series title better, to be honest, because isn't "Queens Thief" kind of a spoiler?

Date: 7/22/20 05:47 pm (UTC)We have a friend in Leipzig that we were able to visit once, and I miss Germany so much. Europe has some stunningly beautiful places and I really hope to have a chance to visit again someday.
Oh, and happy birtrhday! Looks like we're birth month buddies, so virtual birthday fist bump or something? Hope the day was as lovely as these photos. :)

Date: 7/22/20 09:37 pm (UTC)I always thought the name was especially clever because there are also some ancient cultural legends told in each book, so it could refer to both those and the stories themselves with a sort of double meaning. Here a lot of fantasy series are called "the legends of insert-mystical-name/place/whatever", so I doubt MWT was personally responsible (although that would be awesome), but with this one, it fits especially well.
