I placed mine on July 17th of 2018. Amazon tried to get me to cancel last year, and I said, "NOPE." :)

All you super dedicated people preordering years ago and I just sit here thinking ... in a couple of months the last installment ... the last one ... the series will be over and I'm just not ready emotionally ...

I'm with you, laserpe. I haven't pre-ordered yet (though probably will from an indie bookstore near Megan). But I waited weeks even after receiving TaT to start reading it.

My original plan was honestly to order the book and then have it just ... stand there on my shelf until my heart decides its time.
But then I joined sounis ...

I completely understand. I think that's a brilliant plan! But it does become harder when all your online friends want to start discussing it right away. I had to avoid Sounis for a few weeks after TaT came out.

I've been following Emily Martin on FB and had to keep averting my eyes as she posted awesome character sketches in the lead-up to the release of Sunshied. I should go back and look at them now that I've read it.

Thats exactly the point. I've also toyed with the idea of disappering for some time, but it might take longer than a few weeks, and I *like* it here.
Sunshield ... something else everyone keeps mentioning that I probably need to check out ...

To be fair, around here at least, I think I'm the one mentioning Sunshield repeatedly.

I am planning to order the book from an independent bookstore near MWT so I can get a signed copy. It’s coming out close to my birthday so I have hopes she will write Happy Birthday in it as well. 😊

She'll absolutely do that! I ordered a copy of TaT for a friend whose birthday fell on the day it released. I got it from Mac's Backs and their form even lets you input exactly what you want Megan to write. Which is not to say that it's not a bit weird telling an author what to write. Happy early birthday!

Thank you for letting me know that. And thanks for the early Birthday greeting! 😊

I haven't preordered yet but I like the option of ordering a signed copy.

Not quite that far back, but we ordered in 2019. Now I'm re-thinking and going to see if there are independent bookstores near us that might sell a copy, or mwt's favorite Ohio bookstore she usually recommends for signed copies.

I just left a message for Loganberry Books which is where I ordered Thick as Thieves from to see if I can preorder it from them yet. I also plan to get the e-book version.

Ah you guys have me beat!! My Kobo receipt says I pre-ordered on January 14, 2019, heh.

I think I've come to a point where I'm ready to read this last installment (though I wonder if I should do a reread of the entire series before it comes out). I'm ready for the happy ever after.

Dear sir or madam, I would like to know where you buy your relentless optimism.
...
Still haven't read the goodreads blurb. Still not going to.
I wonder if that makes me a bad fan.

It is inevitable! The stars are aligned and the gods have spoken! We shall have a happy ending!

Nah, you're not a bad fan. I got heavily invested in a series that was just so emotionally draining for me, that I've decided I'm not going to read the third book immediately when it comes out. So I understand the feeling of not being ready to confront something even though you really like it.

I have not only not read any blurbs, I avoid looking at the cover art too closely. I don't want to know *anything* until I start reading the book itself.

I have heard that pre-ordering really helps out a book. Maybe it gives the publisher an idea of how popular the book will be. Of course, this may only apply to first-time authors (I heard this on a podcast where the hosts were asking people to pre-order).

I totally understand wanting to wait and get a signed copy though!

You're right. The bestseller lists (which are kind of totally rigged, but that's another story) are based, in part, in pre-order numbers gathered from specific stores. When TaT was releasing, Megan mentioned that Loganberry Books is one of the stores that provides sale numbers for the NYT bestseller list count.

Megan did personalized signatures on orders from Macs Backs and Loganberry for the release of TaT. I'm hoping it will be the same this time around.

Us QT fans are hard-core waiters. Amazon keeps on trying to convince me to cancel my pre-order too, and I was like nope, Imma just gonna wait here.
