Hey, friends. Long time no see.

I found out through the QT discord server that Apple Books has a preview of the first couple chapters of ROTT.

Which I haven't read yet.

Because.

DEDICATION.

I can't figure out how to put it under a cut. But its the DEDICATION and has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PLOT. So. Not spoilery unless you don't want to know anything about the book at ALL.

I sat here for a full 5 minutes trying to decipher why MWT dedicated the last book to Sophos. (I mean, I would too, but.)

In what way can this possibly be interpreted as a spoiler of the book? I'd admit to be a bit spoiler-blind, but this seems extreme.

Not trying to be extreme — just thought I'd mention it in consideration of some Sounis members who have said they're not even looking too closely at the cover art until release day. :) I'm fine with a few spoilers myself, but I know some readers like to save up all the surprises. This is certainly a fun surprise and I'm so tickled by it! <3

Fine. It will be a dead letter when the book comes out rather than a nice surprise! But you're probably right. I admit to struggling with the concept of spoilers in general. I am the old dog who has trouble learning new tricks. Spoilers did not exist until the 1980s as far as I can tell and only became widespread about ten years ago.

I don't particularly have strong feelings about spoilers, personally, but there are some who find any information about the book affects their experience. Which may include innocuous seeming facts such as the number of pages, the synopsis, and the marketing material.

Since we don't want anyone to have to avoid our community during the months leading up to a new book's release, we try to be respectful of those wishes. Just as a courtesy.

Spoiler is a term popularized by the internet, so it wouldn't surprise me if it did not really exist in the 80s. Before the internet, it wasn't so easy to have a new book spoiled, unless you had a friend who was a much faster reader than you! :)

I love that Megan is totally okay with a huge chunk of her readers thinking she has dedicated the final book in the series to one of her own characters...

I've only been part of this community for three months now, so I don't really know whether I have a right to feel included by this, but still.
