I saw this article in the Tor.com newsletter. It contains some fun speculation for the (potential? Is it official?) Disney+ series.

What amazing books have been turned into amazing movies?
LOTR? And even then, the books outrank the movies by a mile.

Date: 1/20/21 02:23 pm (UTC)Amazing books that have been turned into amazing movies? Well off the top of my head, I personally loved The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, A Little Princess, the first Hunger Games movie (but I only liked the first book anyway), the first season of Game of Thrones...
I've heard that His Dark Materials is good, and Good Omens as well. And I've never read The Witcher, but I love the show! So yeah, I think it's possible for it to be very bad, but also possible for it to be good and the quality level of book adaptations has gotten so much better in the past ~ten years.

-Sense and Sensibility (1995)
(one of my favorite book to movie adaptions of all time)
-Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell
-How to Train Your Dragon
...oh wait, are we talking books that *Disney* has made into good movies? Hmm. Might have to think on that one. :/
