OT: Emily B. Martin & Intisar Khanani virtual author event

I've not read Khanani yet (maybe others here have? recommend?), but I'm excited about the launch for Floodplain. Can't wait to read it — Sunshield had some definite cliff-hanger elements to the ending, so I've been ready to finish the story for a year. (And I'm thankful it's only been a year!)

I’m excited that Woodwalker just came in at the library for me! I reserved it while I was watching Emily Martin’s author visit with MWT that you did. Yay.

The bad thing is that my library is closed just now, due to an employee’s positive COVID test. But, as soon as they open I’ll head over to get it.

So sorry to hear about your library's employee! I hope she (probably a she, given the profession's demographics) recovers quickly and everyone else stays well.

I'm glad you're starting with Woodwalker! I'm beginning to wonder if it's a HarperCollins thing that everything has to be promoted as stand-alone. Yes, Sunshield and Floodplain are a duology that can stand alone, but they're set a generation after the trilogy that begins with Woodwalker in the same world with some of the same characters, so they definitely spoil some of what happens with those. I guess they're trying to catch readers who don't want to commit to a series?

I'm one of those anal readers who has to read a series in the proper order. My one big fail, funny enough, was with the QT series! I read a review and thought it sounded good (this was when it was just TT and QoA) and TT was checked out from my school library so I grabbed QoA, thinking, "how bad could it be to read the second book first?" HA. So, I completely spoiled the twist in TT for myself. But I was so floored by QoA and it's still my favorite and I think that may be because I did read it first.
