Rereading in various formats...

Even though I've reread this series a gazillion times, I keep noticing new details here and there....and one reason is that the last couple of rereads haven't been on paper. I've read them on audio twice now, and the narrator emphasizes words and sentences differently than I normally do, which has given different nuance to things.

And now I'm currently reading them on ebook (on my phone in waiting rooms and such), which also changes how I've absorbed every single word. It's like I read so fast on paper that my eyes almost skim passages that I think I know by heart, but reading them in a different format forces me to slow down...so I pick up more. Nothing ground breaking, just sentences here and there that I somehow don't remember.

Anyone else try reading these in different ways to glean new details?

Hey, readsintrees — I've missed you in the last few chats. I've only read QT on paper (except for listening to TT on audio once), but I'm sure you're right. I do know that when I read books aloud I notice things that I missed reading on paper. So, I suggest finding someone to read the books aloud to!

I do have all the QT audiobooks (except RotT) so I do look forward to listening to them and seeing what that brings to light.

I was just saying the same thing at one of the recent chats. I usually don't care at all for audiobooks. I lose focus and miss what's been said and have to rewind and listen again. But, this time, I had just reread RotT and then listened to the audiobook. And I noticed all kinds of subtle things that had passed me by with my print reread. If anyone can listen to the audiobooks, I highly recommend it!

I am currently listening to RoTK and Eugenides has just told Yorn Fordad what he said will happen if he survives the battle and is no longer king. When he got to the end and said “It will be so. It will be so. It will be so.” I got shivers up and down my spine!
