Check out today's article on the United By Pop website for a new interview with MWT and her views of some of the different book covers. The new UK covers look beautiful. Oh, and there's a very small tidbit/teaser about the progress of the Disney movie adaptation of The Thief. Definitely something to look forward to!

Thanks for the link, Checkers!

What a fun read! I have never seen the Harper UK cover before and now.... I covet...

Who else immediately IMDB'd Jim Whitaker? :-)

I did a double-take at Untitled Labyrinth Project (listed as his current project), thinking that sounded potentially Maze-like, but when I clicked on it the description said: "A mythical princess searches for her father in a perilous labyrinth." So, unless The Thief film is undergoing major plot revisions, I suppose we'll still have to wait patiently and see. :)

"I almost expect that when the clock strikes the hour the little figures on the cover will trundle back and forth." Best description of these covers! I love it.

"They were a little out of sync with the trends of the day and they have continued to be a little out of sync, but they have a main character who never goes out of style." A winning combo, if you ask me.

"There’s one more thing I love, but that will be revealed over time, and I’ll leave the readers to see it for themselves." Alright Megan, challenge accepted! What do we think the thing is? Does "revealed over time" mean it will become more apparent with subsequent covers? I'm searching the cover for clues with my detective glass: https://i0.wp.com/www.unitedbypop.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/thief.jpg?w=400&ssl=1

"Nothing warms my heart like seeing someone online say something like, 'I’ve read this book five times a year for thirteen years and I only just now got this reference on page X.' I want my readers to read my book more than once. I want them to see something new each time. I am delighted whenever the internet lets me know that has happened." Truly the Queen's Thief experience, and it IS heartwarming.

Delightful interview! Thanks for sharing! <3

I also noticed that remark: "There’s one more thing I love, but that will be revealed over time, and I’ll leave the readers to see it for themselves." Ooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

I found her comment on being in touch with Jim Whitaker very hopeful; we may get a movie adaptation out of The Thief after all. (There have been promises about movie adaptations of books before that have fallen through; ask Jennifer Crusie about that!)
I, too, am wondering about what she said in the article about what else there is to discover; is there significance to the wine goblets that I am not catching?

Maybe there's a theme of some kind that she knows about, but it won't be evident until all of the covers are revealed?

Thank you so much for posting this, Checkers! What a fantastic article!

I love how Megan points out the best aspects of all the art — so lovely!

And I agree about the British covers!
