Have you guys seen this? On mwt’s tumbler, it shows that she and Laini Taylor are going to be on something called Quest Live this Friday. Do any of you know how to listen to or watch this?

Her Tumblr post says it will be through the OwlCrate app, but you should be able to download and sign up for free. There's a link in this post to the sign up as well, which I posted under the Tumblr announcement.

Apparently if you download the Owlcrate app, go to the News & Events section, and click "going" for the event, then you get a notification when it goes live that takes you to a screen where you can view & chat.

So far, I've only accomplished the first two steps, but I got that from one of the event hosts, so here's hoping....

Let us know how it went. I’m traveling just now with spotty internet so I didn’t even try.

@checkers - it was fun and there were a few of us from Sounis there.

I think my favorite part was seeing people in the chat who haven't read Megan before get excited about reading her books. *Yay* for new fans!!

I wonder if authors recommending other authors is a high-impact way to get new readers? In which case, events featuring 2-4 authors who all know each other's work well and genuinely like it is the way to go. Assuming your goal is readership, which (since I'm a librarian) for me it is.

Those sorts of conversations require almost nothing from a moderator but getting things going. I think the authors are almost always more interesting when left to their own conversation. But that may be a biased opinion based on the fact that almost all the events I attend involve Megan. But fans do seem to enjoy getting their questions answered, so there's that.

I'm so sorry it didn't work out for you and you missed it! A few people were saying it will be on YouTube or otherwise available for viewing later (maybe on the app?). I wasn't fully clear on this, but they said they were going to post a Q&A later - either q&a from the interview or take questions from the chat/submitted (? for the authors to answer? Idk).
I didn't have a good keyboard so I didn't take notes, but I'd be happy to get notes from others who attended and provide a summary if you'd like that at all

The app does have a whole section of recording of live events, so I'm sure it will be there.

I think that next time I might try to attend on my computer instead of my phone so I have a full keyboard. I'm not good with chat on my phone.

This is the link someone posted for the rewatch. I haven't tried it myself, but it says something like 'missed the stream, rewatch here' so here's hoping it works! Sorry again that was so frustrating.

I'm so sorry it didn't work for you, [livejournal.com profile] rouan1!

I wish I knew more about the app so I could have been more help, but I just downloaded it yesterday myself. Do you have robust internet? I did have some buffering pauses, but otherwise the video part went well for me.

The video will be posted, so you can at least watch it later. It looks like they record all the live events and post the recordings.
