Sounis Backup on Dreamwidth?

Hello!

So I haven't checked in here in a looong time, but this place will always have a spot in my fandom heart! and I just saw some concerning info about LJ over here: https://bsky.app/profile/rahaeli.bsky.social/post/3mbebi2xfxc25

I notice we have a backup of Sounis over on Dreamwidth: https://sounis.dreamwidth.org/ but it doesn't seem to have been updating since about 2023. Anyone know why?

Hey, Hazel! Sorry you got spam filtered. It's because of the link... I added you to the pre-approved list.

From my understanding, anyone outside Russia with Cyrillic turned off will still be able to access the English version of LJ, but users inside Russia will not. That's not politically motivated... 😒

So, the Dreamwidth... I think Checks backs that up manually, so it maybe just that hasn't been done in awhile. She also started an email list, in case LJ goes dark completely, so we could reconnect members of Sounis.

Yes, I back up Dreamwidth manually and will make a point of doing just that tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder!

LJ is so problematic. I hate that we use a site that’s now Russian-owned, and I stopped paying for my upgraded LJ several years ago when they started making you pay in rubles. But I’ll get the Dreamwidth updated and just hope for the best with LJ.
