Haha. I re-read The Thief the other day and found some things I didn't realise fully before.
1) When Gen's leaving the city of Sounis just as he almost misses Philonikes: "...and then the king's warships lined up at their docks. I was counting the cannons bolted to their decks...." Hah. I wonder if Gen thought back to the day he left the city of sounis when he went to blow up Sounis's navy and implement fake cannon?
2) In Chapter 1 Gen mentions the King of Sounis "was no relation to any of the families that had ruled the city in the past." So whoever on a previous post said Sounis was just as unstable as Attolia, was right.
