"When in doubt, I always relied on my reader to be willing and able to figure things out."

I wonder if we lived up to her expectations.

hey, at the same time, let's here it for authors willing to give their readers credit. Too often these days (though this is more a TV/movie thing--but then again, the musical version of Wicked had the same problem!), writers/other people in entertainment assume their audience is stupid, and write accordingly.

this line filled me with glee. ♥

Hey, where was that nice, neat little summary when we were writing wikipedia articles?

After reading this, James McAvoy is even more thoroughly entrenched in my mind as the personification of Eugenides.

Thank you so much for the link.

Hee. You know, I like his wife as much as the next person, and I loved her in that young Elizabeth thing she did, but she is definitely not my Attolia. ::holds secret Attolia close to heart::

He is adorable and has the accent but I'm still voting for Joseph Gordon-Levitt (from 3rd rock, ten things etc) unfortunately he doesn't have the accent thing.

Gordon-Levitt is a good choice, but McAvoy is a fencer and a gymnast (as he demonstrated in Children of Dune), so he's always been the Gen in my mind's eye (who in my head also has a British, not Scottish, accent).

Hey, I never thought of him! And I haven't seen him in anything since the end of Third Rock, so I've no idea what he looks like now, but I think I might agree with you. Maybe they could train him to do the accent thing. Hire the guy who trained the two American hobbits! (I loved the scene in Third Rock where his girlfriend whacked off his pony tail, and he said something like "If I'd known it would grow back, I would have done this ages ago!" Pity they didn't leave it long).

ZOMG! How could I not have thought of this boy earlier!? He's so adorably perfect! Plus he's Scottish (which is MWT's vision of the Eddisian accent) and can also do a lovely British accent (Mr. Tumnus)! Just like Eugenides! *squee*

"Underneath his petulant exterior he's ... still petulant..."

*laughs*
*has a mental image of Gen sulking in response to this statement*
*laughs harder*

"I flailed around for while..." *cannot picture Megan flailing. laughs trying*

no one mentioned "petulant" in the words-to-describe-Gen post!

thanks, Checkers :)

I loved the petulant line! I never thought of Costis as naive though, but thinking about it... yeah, I suppose he is!
