Hi everybody, I joined the community just a couple days ago, just after finishing KoA. And after finishing it, had to reread the whole series ( oh glee, am so glad we got this third book and can now call it series). I loved the KoA, it might be my favorite of the series, but I love court intrigues and character interaction, which was what this was. And I got a couple questions, I think the spoiler policy is gone, but am putting on a

And I am all confused about the Laecdomon detail- if the assassination attempt in the gardens was all Sounis and the Medes´ work, then Laecdomon, the baron´s tool, wanting the guards to pen the dogs and disapearing when they were arrested would link it to baron Erondites as well. Was Gen accusing Sejanus of something he knew was untrue, because it was much harder to pin him or his father for the true involvement in the garden assassination?

Relius´ comments about Gen being young and the golden age, I suppose he hopes Gen can unify the three kingdoms and stand against the Mede? The gods also seem to want Gen capable, wonder if that is related to the Medes, or to the volcano.

just the same.

This book and the reread left me all eager for more, even though I got this feeling any next book will probably be about Sounis and Sophos, there seems to be a whole interesting mystery there- any word from MWT on it yet? And this feels ridiculous, I waited years for this book, now it´s out and I loved, here I am , in the month it cames out already concerned about book after this, poor authors with eager fans.

Welcome!

Was Gen accusing Sejanus of something he knew was untrue, because it was much harder to pin him or his father for the true involvement in the garden assassination?

That's what I thought, too. Gen said that Sejanus was on the balcony directing the assassins to him. Then he said he had no proof that he wanted to bring into the light of day. I can't recall what the proof was.

It's going to be very hard waiting until another book comes out.

I think the proof he was referring to probably involved the conspiracy room.

Welcome to the comm. :)

Was Gen accusing Sejanus of something he knew was untrue, because it was much harder to pin him or his father for the true involvement in the garden assassination? I'd agree with this too. And in terms of the God's interest in Gen, I think it's more to do with the Mede, simply because there's been more building up about their political threat, and because Gen has personal problems with the Medes which could be interesting. The Volcano seems to be a way off, I still don't understand its purpose in QoA. Any ideas?

The whole Sophos and Sounis issue certainly is interesting! I think we all want it resolved. :) And I don't think it is ridiculous, none of us want to wait another four years.

Perhaps that's what it indicates. The whole issue of a future eruption though...was it just to show that the Eddisians still are Hephestia's people, to receive warning from the Gods to prepare for major catastrophes? I remember Gen wondering whether Eddis had been deserted by the Gods in QoA. Maybe this was to confirm that they hadn't.

I have no idea about the volcano eruption either. I think it might somehow tie into the hold bit about Gen being and Annux, but when, where and how are so lost on me, aside from a few weird theories, of course, lol.

That bit about Sejanuns seems correct though, when I get my book back I'll check it out. I can't remember- did it end with Sejanus still in jail, or did Gen have him excecuted?

I think the volcano scenario was to go with something from the end of The Thief about nothing man makes, nor that of the gods, lasts forever and from The QofA how no god or goddess is all powerful. It's like, the world keeps on changing and change is a natural process that cannot be halted. Just like in The Thief, how it was a bad idea to try to hold onto life when it was time to die. And I also agree with the previous post about how the warning dreams reiterated that the Eddisans were still Hephestia's chosen people and she was still protecting them by giving them advanced warning.
