What does she mean?

I'm new here... just finished these three fabulous books!  And I'm so glad to see there's somewhere to discuss the books.  Hooray!  Okay so I have a few questions.  But for now I'll just post the one that's bugging me the most.   What did Eddis mean when she says to Gen, "Only for that." (Just before he leaves Eddis to steal Attolia).????

"My Queen," he said again, perhaps for the last time.

She calls him back to hear him say "My Queen," because if he marries Attolia, then Attolia will be his queen, not Eddis. It's potentially the last time he'll ever address Eddis as his queen.

You know, I've read that book three times, and I actually never picked up on that? I mean, I got the part about her wanting to hear him say that, but I never actually got why.

The double meaning there is that, if he fails, he'll die and that will be the last time he says it.

And that double meaning is actually the one that you'd tend to see first, because at that point you don't know he's about to go out and kidnap and marry Attolia and make her His Queen.

I don't have my copy of the book on hand but I think she wanted to hear him call her "My Queen" one more time because win or lose Attolia would be his queen from then onwards. It might also have been her way of saying "I love you cousin,stay safe. best of luck"

I knew it would be so obvious in hindsight. Thanks for cluing me in, everybody. (I was *way* overthinking it.) And thanks for all the welcomes! Yes, it's quite the addiction, isn't it? I keep re-reading my favorite parts (which is almost everything) and I've been frustrated because I haven't convinced any of my friends or family to read this so they can join in my addiction! So this site here is basically my only hope of keeping my sanity while we all wait for 5 or 6 years for the next one.
