Kay so, did I screw anything up? Miss anything? And what kind of sword to they use? I have no idea. And what do they wear on their feet? Boots, or those sandle things? I'm too lazy to look myself. EDIT: 'Tis boots!

I knwo they wore boots - I recall something about scuffling of boots when Teleus makes the Guard stand outside all day - but I can't think of any detail. I'm also lazy.

It's mentioned in one scene in KoA that Costis is taking off sandals--but boots are indicated in other places as well. Suit yourself.

Unless otherwise given in the books, why not go with the sword Gen is holding on the cover of KoA?

Because it's hard to draaaaw. Lol. The type of sword it is, however, I am game for. But, uh, not as snazzy as Gen's. He's all kingly and stuff so he can have gold-plated, jewel-encrusted stuff, but the normal guys gotta have normal swords, I'm afraid. XD Costis was having trouble with a few (tiny) gold cups, so I think a golden-hilted long sword is perhaps slightly out of his price range. :P

Anyway, I'm thinking a slightly shorter than average longsword, 'cos those things are damn hard to swing about so a bit shorter would be more practical. But I'm also considering a sabre, mainly 'cos it's all officery and stuff. And fun to draw. And they have cool hilts. Yes, I have my own best interests at heart. :D

As to what they wear on their feet, didn't it say something about sandal straps? Something like "They had taken his sandal straps as well"? That just sort of lead me to think sandals.

Personally, I wouldn't want to fight in sandals. Seems hazardous.
