It's Friday! And that means...inane booktalk!

Of course, this week we already have a post for discussion. This thieving thread is open for talk still! Go hang out.

Here you can brief us if you've read anything since last time you want us to know about, but the topic of interest will be that "borrowing" of story concepts post.

I have some ideas about guiding questions for successive discussions, but if you have a burning passion to ask something yourself for the book discussion, just drop me a note on my LJ [profile] anachred. Then we can decide who'll post it, come the time.

Who knew I'd be so good at insinuating myself into places of power? Reminds me of someone else we all love...

I want to buy the Japanese version of "The Thief" but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know the title in Japanese or where it might be sold online?

I'm in Japan now, but pretty far away from any major city. Though I will be going to Sapporo this coming week.

And I'm so tempted to write that Magus/Eddis fic, but my knowledge of the books is rusty and I wouldn't know where to begin fitting it into the storyline.

Okay, I was really confused for a bit...

I found this page

http://home.att.net/~mwturner/

Which listed the Japanese version of The Thief and QoA as being published by Akane Shobo publishers. I took the title of the books shown on the page, Toushinden, and typed it into their search engine... AND FIVE BOOKS SHOWED UP. 0___o

ARTS )

Such pretty cover art!!!

They say written by MWT, Translated by Kanehara Mizuhito and Miyasaka Hiromi.

Here are the blurbs for each book in case anyone's interested:

WARNING: SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ ALL THE BOOKS )

So Im guessing KoA is split in two parts over books 4&5. Same for QoA over books 2&3... Makes sense to break them up if you want to translate small parts at a time and get them published quickly.

"Toushinden"... The title for the series of these books is a made up word using the three characters for "Thief", "Gods", and "legend", according to my coworkers. I like it!

Pretty pretty pretty... Debating whether I would be willing to try and read through them in Japanese. haha...
