Another introduction, oh my
Jan. 28th, 2009 12:02 amHello everyone! I thought I'd just ride in on the recent flurry of introductions. You might know me as that other crazy person from
zumie_ashlen's conversations.
I read the Queen's Thief trilogy in early 2007, whereupon they became my favorite books in the history of ever (which, I will admit, was a new experience for me--I've never been able to choose a favorite before!) I trolled around bookstores, putting copies in more noticeable places and sticking post-its full of praise on other shelves, but never met another fan. Nor could I convince any of my friends to read it, no matter how many times Iscreamed at begged them. There was no place to vent my fangirling. Sad times! If only I had known this community existed!
However, I did at last prevail in my crusade, and got zumie to read them.
Oh, now I need to think of something to discuss in order to prove my worth, don't I. Hmm. Well, how do you convince people read fantastic books?
I'm also wondering about the next book (well, isn't everyone)--do you guys think we'll we be seeing things from a more political perspective again, or perhaps a more strategic/tactical view? And will Gen have gotten all of Attolia's courtiers behaving by the time the book starts, or will we have trouble at home as well as predicted international upheaval?

I think that Gen will have gotten most everyone in line by the time the next book starts. It's no secret now that he's brilliant. His guard believes in him now, thanks to that scene at the end. His attendants have known since the Sejanus thing. I doubt that it took long for word to travel to the others, considering how fast everything else got to them. I'm thinking there will be more of a strategic/tactical perspective to it. I'm sure some of the Barons and such will need more convincing, but now that Gen's set his mind to really be King, that shouldn't last long.

Date: 1/28/09 05:20 pm (UTC)Mmm, strategic/tactical. People might try to stir up trouble while he's dealing with Sounis and the Medes, but you're right, I can't see them lasting very long. XD I can't wait for a whole book of Gen dedicated to being King! We've just seen him dragging his feet so far.

Date: 1/28/09 05:25 pm (UTC)Yeah! I was wondering if they would try to treaty Sounis or the Medes (AGAIN), before they (maybe) go to war.

Date: 1/28/09 05:34 pm (UTC)crack was a great filler!
I think the book will be more on outside matters than Attolia itself. Strategic/tactical looks like a thing Gen will do more than political.

Date: 1/28/09 05:40 pm (UTC)Oh yes, or Gen could just be calling him "goat-chin."

Date: 1/28/09 05:50 pm (UTC)Perhaps that will lead to some multi-POV!

Date: 1/28/09 06:07 pm (UTC)I'm sure there are quite a few grudges held towards Gen, so I can see that creating a few problems. I wouldn't doubt that there are still some who hate him for the way he went about becoming King. Kidnapping the Queen is not a good first impression, especially to some particularly loyal subjects.

(oh my, your icon... Duzell just looks so pleased at this little factoid!)

Date: 1/28/09 06:40 pm (UTC)Indeed it is. I loved the entire kidnapping scene.
(You actually know what it's from! I've never met anyone who did, apart from finding the icon itself.)
