[identity profile] viviolo.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] queensthief
Hello everyone! I thought I'd just ride in on the recent flurry of introductions. You might know me as that other crazy person from [livejournal.com profile] zumie_ashlen's conversations.

I read the Queen's Thief trilogy in early 2007, whereupon they became my favorite books in the history of ever (which, I will admit, was a new experience for me--I've never been able to choose a favorite before!) I trolled around bookstores, putting copies in more noticeable places and sticking post-its full of praise on other shelves, but never met another fan. Nor could I convince any of my friends to read it, no matter how many times I screamed at begged them. There was no place to vent my fangirling. Sad times! If only I had known this community existed!

However, I did at last prevail in my crusade, and got zumie to read them.

Oh, now I need to think of something to discuss in order to prove my worth, don't I. Hmm. Well, how do you convince people read fantastic books?

I'm also wondering about the next book (well, isn't everyone)--do you guys think we'll we be seeing things from a more political perspective again, or perhaps a more strategic/tactical view? And will Gen have gotten all of Attolia's courtiers behaving by the time the book starts, or will we have trouble at home as well as predicted international upheaval?

Welcome! All these intro posts reminds me that I don't think I ever actually made an intro post. I just pop in randomly sometimes. XD;

I lol'd at zumie's and your crack. Best crack I've seen in a while.

I think that Gen will have gotten most everyone in line by the time the next book starts. It's no secret now that he's brilliant. His guard believes in him now, thanks to that scene at the end. His attendants have known since the Sejanus thing. I doubt that it took long for word to travel to the others, considering how fast everything else got to them. I'm thinking there will be more of a strategic/tactical perspective to it. I'm sure some of the Barons and such will need more convincing, but now that Gen's set his mind to really be King, that shouldn't last long.

I started out just lurking, then just decided to start commenting. It just turned out that, as far as I remember, I haven't formally introduced myself. >>; Maybe I should.

I'm sure there are quite a few grudges held towards Gen, so I can see that creating a few problems. I wouldn't doubt that there are still some who hate him for the way he went about becoming King. Kidnapping the Queen is not a good first impression, especially to some particularly loyal subjects.

Just did :3

Indeed it is. I loved the entire kidnapping scene.

(You actually know what it's from! I've never met anyone who did, apart from finding the icon itself.)

(Thanks! A friend was re-reading the manga and noticed it looked like 300 so I made it for her. XD)

(Duzell was almost as awesome as Eugenides. Almost, because it's not possible to be more awesome.)

I'd kind of like to see a little turmoil, because then we would see more Gen awesomeness. At the very least, there's going to be turmoil between Attolia and Sounis.

And if it's going to be a set up for war with the Mede empire, it'll be tactical, I have no doubt. Unless this is a book to set up the politics going INTO the war, and then the book after that will be the war. Really, as long as I get lots more books, I'm fine with it.

I think too much foreshadowing has gone into the three countries being united against the Mede. Either Eddis will have to grit her teeth and marry the king, or the king gets assassinated and Sophos becomes king, so she marries him instead (ending the line of Eddis, which the goddess already told us would happen).

Good point. I keep reading it more like dueling. But it might be attempting a peace treaty before the war starts.

Oh yes, or Gen could just be calling him "goat-chin."

Oooh! Maybe the Mede assassinate Sounis, thinking the heir is also dead and they can come in during the civil war, but then Sophos shows up all "'sup?"

lol haha i like to see that happen! and Sophos will have like Gen and Eddis at his back to kick the Mede butts out.

I'd also love to see Sophos come into his own. I mean, I love shy, sputtery Sophos, but I want him to be a good deal sneakier now (hey, he saw the best in action, after all).

Waves!!
crack was a great filler!
I think the book will be more on outside matters than Attolia itself. Strategic/tactical looks like a thing Gen will do more than political.
