well ok, ONE idea. But I'm sure there are others out there with some new songs to add to our next Sounis Mix.

I've been following the discussions on [livejournal.com profile] inkasrain 's post to Sounis a couple of days ago, and when this rolled around on my CD player today the lightbulb about exploded. I would've danced if I wasn't driving a car in Chicago at the time -

from the soundtrack to Mama Mia!, Does your Mother Know?
no, come on - it's perfect:

You're so hot
Teasing me
So you're blue but I can't
Take a chance on a kid like you
It's something I couldn't do

There's that look
In your eyes
I can read in your face
That your feelings are driving you wild
But boy you're only a child

...

I can see
What you want
But you seem pretty young
To be searching for that kind of fun
So maybe I'm not the one

Now, you're so cute
I like your style
And I know what you mean
When you give me a flash of that smile
But boy you're only a child

I remember that song from Mama Mia. I thought it was cute.

Here's my Queen's Thief soundtrack.

Me Against the World by Simple Plan (the perfect Gen theme music)

It's All About Us by T.a.t.u.

Evil Angel by Breaking Benjamin

No Fear by The Rasmus

Ice Cold Story

Solitude by Window by Yuki Kajiura (has no words but would make good background music to Gen's window sitting)

Weird by Hilary Duff

Out of The Blue by Aly and AJ

well I mean I lurve this song and I have the soundtrack too. but uh I apply it to...other stuff. also the idea of Attolia doing a dance number on the beach scares me. the sun would reflect off her in painful ways or maybe just dazzle everyone.

meeting at the bookstore, definite go! :-D

actually my mental image of Attolia on a beach is her in her heavy velvets with the embroidery (which, let's face it, look like this (http://www.geocities.com/tkvanb/Queen_Amidala_2.jpg)), getting a sunburn.

p.s. do you have a laptop if so should I bother bringing mine?

OhmygodJadeyou'resuchareprobate.

Plus, Padme is melded forever in my mind with this: http://iharthdarth.livejournal.com/6817.html#cutid1

So lets not meld Attolia in there, too. Please.

I honestly think that assosiating Padme with Attolia in any way, shape or form counts as reprobatishness.

Congrats on the septuplet's birthday, give them each a big hug from me.

*seconded*

I have, in fact, drawn a cartoon of this, which sadly has been lost.
The caption is, "you forgot it's a wooden sword"

You know that theory about driving a stake through a vampire???

And it's Gen the SPARKLY vampire slayer, thank you very much.

Sparkly?

From: [identity profile] ninedaysaqueen.livejournal.com
I apologize. Gen the "Sparkly" Vampire Slayer.

When you direct your upcoming King of Attolia movie, you can make Laecdomon a vampire; and rename the story "The 'Sparkly' Vampire Slayer of Attolia". Gen's "You forgot it's wooden sword" line will still fit perfectly.

While we're on this strange thought...

In The Thief, Hamiathes's Gift is a sacred talisman once used to slay vampires during the epic battle that was waged eons ago between humans and vampires (these were the invaders). It was soaked in the blood of so many vampires that it became an object that could give immortality to its human wielder. (Remember, vampires are immortal.) Gen must steal the Gift for his human queen (Sounis and Atollia were overrun by the invader so humans only exist in Eddis now) to protect her from the evil vampire king of Sounis. The Magus had to bring Gen with, because being a vampire himself the Magus can't touch the sacred object.

In The Queen of Attolia, Gen is bitten by the evil vampire empress (that's Irene of course). Now a creature of the night himself, Gen has all sorts of cool powers; but he doesn't have to worry about being turned into a brain dead minion because nobody can tell Gen what to do.

Throughout the entirety of this odd horror flick series, Gen will be defeating enemies through sheer sparklyness.

*laughs uncontrollably*

You'd better never let me near your screenplay, the last eddis.

I don't think ANYone should let you near ANY screenplay, ninedays, dear.

This is very impressive. I'm speechless. (I know what you're all going to say, don't bother.)

Excuse me, this is Sounis. We don't hold with crazyness-restriction here.

I... I don't really know.

Um... it appears jade said something about Attolia dazzling everyone in a swimsuit, then willow asked if she meant that Attolia was a sparkly vampire, then PR mentioned how terrible that crossover would be, and then... we just couldn't help ourselves, and started talking about what would be IN that crossover.

This is one of the few youth series that I would not like to see made into a movie or graphic novel. So little of the books are dialogue; we would miss SO much story.

From: [identity profile] thelasteddis.livejournal.com
You know, this is a weird one for me. I'd actually be interested in what a movie of these would be like... it would be a definate challenge, and probably revolutionary in the hands of a good director. Trying to get across so many nuances and complications would be insane...

As a wanna-be director, I've given this a lot of thought. The thing you have to realize, is that movies aren't just dialogue. With good actors, you can pull off a movie with almost no dialogue at all - think Wall-E, for example. So honestly, I think it could be done, and well... but it would need to be an uber-movie, big budget, great casting company, buncha people WHO HAD WORKED TOGETHER BEFORE writing the screenplay, and editing it...

To be honest, the director part of me wanted to make a movie out of QoA from halfway through it.

*dodges rotten tomatoes*

I'd love to see a movie, but there is the definite possibility of someone ruining it. I have feeling that The Thief would make the best movie, because it revoles around one particular journey and physical task.

TT would be a good one, wouldn't it? The trick would be to have the stories narrated by Gen, but then played out onscreen. Since those are fairly action packed, it would add excitment and regular intervals to the parts of the story which would normally start to get dull to non-readers.

From: [identity profile] kaijuu-chan.livejournal.com
I agree 100%. My concern is that no director/writing/acting team could meet my exceedingly high standards in adequately conveying the non-dialogue aspects of these books. I don't want to see another Harry Potter disaster.

Thank you!

I'm looking into a career in movies, actually. I've sent in an application for a film camp this summer, and I've made several fan trailers and shorts staring my brother and some of my friends - there's a link on the sidebar of my blog, if you're interested.

Haven't dared to go near QT yet, but that might change soon - if G likes the books I'm going to try and convince her to do the Attolia/Eddis scene at the end of QoA with me.

I promise that IF I become a director, and IF I get the chance to make movies out of these, I will consult you guys every step of the way. Possibly very subtly, because of contracts and junk like that - but you would have a huge influence over everything that went on!!!!

Ooooooh, *love*

My Sounis playlist:

Viva la Vida, by Coldplay (THIS IS THE KoA THEME SONG)

Black Roses Red, by Alana Grace (I've... I've actually blocked an entire QoA based music video for this song in my head. Seriously. I walk through it mentally every time I listen to this.)

Bleeding Love, by Leona Lewis (its got an uber repetitive chorus, but the lyrics themselves are perfect)

I Got U, by Blake Lewis (this is such a great song for Gen/Irene)

Lost!, by Coldplay (the lyric, "just because I'm hurting / doesn't mean I'm hurt" reminds me of Gen)

Cemetaries of London, by Coldplay (not because there are similar themes, but because I can TOTALLY see Gen listening to this really loudly when his dad is yelling at him, just to cheese him off)

Whoa, so much Coldplay on there. And I cut two of their songs off because the list was getting too long.

I second Viva La Vida, I can never get Gen out of my head when I hear it. I haven't heard the others, besides Bleeding Love, so I can't really comment, but the lyrics you posted from Lost! seems perfect.

Oh goodness, and I forgot to put down the really good lyric, "just because I'm losing / doesn't mean I'm lost". Isn't it so Gen??? Here's the song:

Just because I'm losing
Doesn't mean I'm lost
Doesn't mean I'll stop
Doesn't mean I will cross

Just because I'm hurting
Doesn't mean I'm hurt
Doesn't mean I didn't get what I deserved
No better and no worse

I just got lost
Every river that I tried to cross
Every door I ever tried was locked
Oh and I'm just waiting 'til the shine wears off

You might be a big fish in a little pond
Doesn't mean you've won
'Cause along may come
A bigger one

And you'll be lost
Every river that you tried to cross
Every gun you ever had went off
Oh and I'm just waiting 'til the firing stopped
Oh and I'm just waiting 'til the shine wears off

I've been hearing ADELE's cover of Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love" a lot lately. I think Dylan is an excellent lyricist and ADELE does a very nice rendition. I've definitely added that one to my soundtrack.

I came across this song, and it reminded me so much of Gen.

Here it is with lyrics.

In the Shadows by The Rasmus

No sleep, no sleep until I'm done with finding the answer. Won't stop... won't stop before I find the cure for this cancer. Sometimes, I feel like going down I'm so disconnected. Somehow, I know that I am haunted to be wanted.

Chorus: I've been watching. I've been waiting in the shadows for my time. I've been searching. I've been living for tomorrw all my life.

In the shadows, in the shadows.

They say that I must learn to kill before I can feel safe, but I'd... I'd rather kill myself then turn into this thing.

Sometimes, I feel that I should go and play with the thunder. Somehow, I just don't want to stay and wait for a wonder.

(repeat chorus)

Lately, I've been walking, walking in circles watching, waiting for something to feel me, touch me, heal me, comfort me.

(repeat chorus)

I've been watching. I've been waiting. I've been searching. I've been living for tomorrow.

In the shadows, in the shadow. I've been waiting.
