Date: 6/28/09 05:32 am (UTC)Japanese copyright dates are usually written like this...
2010年3月23日
年 means year.
月 means month.
日 means day.
That is March 23, 2010 if you have not guessed.
If the year is written in the imperial style (using the reign of the emperor to number the years), this site has a converter.

Hope you find them!

Yeah, the copyright dates tend to be towards the back in Japanese books. On manga, the dates are usually printed on the back cover.
I'm glad the year wasn't in the imperial style. That would have been confusing.
It seems "The King of Attolia" and both volumes of "Atarshiki O" were published in the same year. I wonder if the Japanese edition of "A Conspricy of Kings" will be published in 2010, as well...?
I'd love to see the Japanese cover art. You will probably post pictures, and I will have to translate the main title and volume titles.

"The photos are standard covers. The first line under the 4 squares is the title. The longer, smaller fonted line is MWT's name. The line below that/the line above the centre picture list the translators. The line below the centre pic is the publisher's name. That's why all three are the same =P
For publishing info, my guess would be at the back of the book rather than the page after the cover, like English books. It should contain a bunch of numbers in arabic form, such as the year of publication and address of publisher. If it is not written in arabic numerals, then it gets a little tricker. Wherever it is, the publishing info should not take up the entire page and it should have a format different from the rest of the book."
Wherever it is, the publishing info should not take up the entire page and it should have a format different from the rest of the book. <--------- This should be applicable to all modern publications of books. Haven't found one that's different. Also, covers don't count because they are the first pages people usually find, and thus are a part of the overall presentation of a book. Publishers don't want strings of numbers to distract people from their reading pleasure, ne? Maybe that's why publishing info is printed on a separate page, placed at a negligible part of the book...
