[identity profile] reader-marie.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] queensthief
So I've been a serious lurker for a while now, not posting very often, but after reading the recent post about modern-day Gen I felt drawn to share a very strange dream of mine that I had last week or so.  I think there's been a separate discussion about dreaming about these books, so I hope I'm not stealing thunder from that discussion.

First, you have to know how weird it is that I remember this dream at all, since I hardly ever remember any of my dreams.  I also rarely dream about recognizable things or people, except occasionally my family.

However, last week I dreamed that Gen and his queen (Attolia, I mean) had somehow hopped out of their books and were running loose in an undetermined American city somewhere.  I think my sister and I were, Inkheart-like, trying to find their author.  Probably in hopes that she'd do something to restrain Gen.  I didn't see Gen himself much...I have this idea that he was running around causing mayhem, and, disturbingly, trying to take over the city.  All this Annux stuff might have gone to his head.  Attolia was unexpectedly walking around the city with my sister, me, and one of my coworkers.  She was dressed in modern clothing (though she had some wickedly cool jewelery, not that I remember what it looked like), and was, um, shorter than I had expected.  I'm not sure how tall Gen was.

Anyway, I realize this has very little discussion value except for the fact that I've never dreamed about Gen before.  It does beg the question of whether Gen would actually take over this dream-city if he could, or if I'm confusing his behavior with, say, Sounis.  And would Megan Whalen Turner be able to do anything to restrain him if we'd found her?  Would he listen to his author?

I'm so glad my post inspired you to talk about this. :D It's a cool dream!

LOL, and no, I somehow doubt Gen would listen to his author. >.>

It depends. Is the government of this dream city in any way corrupt or evil? If so, I'm sure he would try to take over for the greater good.

...If not, it's probably Nahuser-dork impersonating Gen.

Gen wouldn't; but Mrs. Turner would make him. I think she's just as clever a he is, but you might have a hard time finding her if she's still stuck on that island.

Here is the previous discussion on Gen world dreams. Posted by yours truly. I'm glad you brought up this fun subject again, Marie.

I dunno, I think he just might listen to MWT. He listens to the gods after all (more or less).

Awesome dream!
Yeah . . . Running around causing mayhem . . . :)
trying to take over? It's most likely a corrupt place then, like TLE says, Or Nahuserfish.
