I don't think it's a mustache

My ARC of COK came.

I find it kind of funny we're discussing Sophos' facial hair on here so much.

A while back Leslie (aged_crone) had this theory Sophos was Nahuseresh in disguise since they never appeared at the same time and so we debated whether the red beard was an elaborate disguise: If you look at the beard you don't notice the less disguised facial features.

It would be an interesting point to further investigate her theory.

Maybe he painted on a fake mustache to disguise himself.

Everyone who has already read the book is going to be laughing at our wild speculation now.

Maybe that's not even Sophos on the cover. Maybe Sophos has an evil twin brother. Or a clone. A clone with a mustache. Maybe the book was originally entitled 'A Conspiracy of Clones' but MWT thought that would give too much away.

I thought of something it might be...maybe it's blood from a bloody nose. You know, from when he fell off the lamppost. The pea shooter zinged back and whacked him on the nose. Or, maybe he has a cold, and couldn't steal Kleenex. You know, because the Kleenex plant hadn't been invented yet. Yeah, I'll bet that's it.

No, I bet he got hit on the nose while trying to escape, and he got a bloody nose, but he knocked out the guard with his Mad Sophos Skillz (with a z, mind you), and then stole a horse, and that's why there's this shadow/blood/mustache on his upper lip.
