Thank you Deirdre and Maria, and of course, Megan! The interview was a pleasure to listen to. I especially appreciate what Megan said about people being pressured into achievement/career planning at early ages. I'm an English Creative Writing major, and the most frequent reaction I get is "Oh... well, what are you going to do with that?" And of course, I just don't really know yet, so the question makes me feel about two inches tall. Megan's sensible attitude toward hyper-achievement really resonated with me; three cheers for moving at your own pace!

Good for you, inkasrain! I remember a friend of mine from high school telling me, "you can do whatever you want, as long as you set your mind on it." He was awfully wise, for a teenager ;=D

I think the main point of education is to learn -- and that's a very high calling in itself. Not everything has to be "practical."

Hi! I am a lurker who is very bored and really wants to talk about MWT's books! Haha...
First off, I listened to the interview and it was very interesting. Thanks to all the people that contributed to making me a little bit happier with that. :)
Secondly, I have a theory floating around in my head and I don't know what to do with it. It popped into my head last night and I lost a lot of sleep because once I start thinking about the Queen's Thief series, I can't stop. It is an obsession... :p
Anyway, I was thinking (and I don't have any of the books with me to use for reference, so I may be waaaay off....) that maybe each of the books of the series focuses on one ruler. Think about it... The Thief was Gen/King of Attolia, QoA was Irene/Queen of Attolia, aCoK was Sophos who I assume will eventually rule Sounis, and I was thinking that Book 5 would be Eddis's book, and Book 6 (she said there would be 6, right?) will be about some cool thing that they all do together.... but KoA seems to be out of place, right? It focuses on Costis who isn't a ruler.
So I was thinking, what if Costis DOES become a ruler? That would make sense, right? What if he became the rule of.... Medea?
I have absolutely NO idea if this is far out there or what, but I thought I would share it with you all. The only evidence I have is:
-My first theory about each book for a ruler,
-The fact that in KoA Gen really tries to get Costis to improve his Mede accent...
-MWT could have chosen anyone to narrate the third book, maybe even a character who had a minor role previously, yet she chose Costis.... coincidence or not?
-Gen specifically chose Costis for his plans.... why?
-I have heard that Costis disappears in book 4. Could he be doing something important behind the scenes?
So, those are my thoughts.... now, hopefully I will be able to get some sleep at night. :D I am crazy, huh? Oh well, MWT's writing has strong powers over me....

Oh, I love your ideas, and I have no idea what MWT might be planning -- one thing you can bet on is that she will surprise us!

This was awesome! Loved the discussion of cataloging. I have to agree with Megan--reader's advisory = heaven, cataloging = hell. I'm a pretty detail-oriented person but am not ashamed to admit that I'm a rotten cataloger.

Sounds like you three have some great fun doing the podcasts, and get to talk to some great authors.

Oh, thank you muchly for that! Its kind of nice to know what Megan sounds like. (I guess it was over the phone and all, but still.)

And it brightened my evening, which involved locking my keys (and the books I thought I might like to dip into this weekend, and my purse) in my car, therefore delaying/uprooting my weekend plans. Where's Gen with his Thief tools when you need him?

I couldn't listen to the podcast on my work computer, but it worked on my home computer. Maybe just trying a different computer would work?

Glad to know I'm not the only one so marvelously stupid as to lock thier keys in the car and not have the Mad Thief Skillz to retrieve them. Though considering that I've really only had this car for about a month and this is the first time that I really have a ONLY FOR ME (mostly) car, my track record so far is not good. (I'm not going into the parcking tickets story right now. I'll get all frustrated. Well, more frustrated.)

My friend (also a fan of the books) lacked her keys in earlier this year. The answer is rubber door-propper-openers and a coat hanger. And YouTube. At any rate it is cheaper than calling a lock smith.

And that podcast was fun. I'm going to keep it for posterity so that I can listen to it any time I want!

Thanks so much for the lovely podcast. I enjoyed both part one and two, but especially the latter. I felt so bad for one of the interviewers when her hearts were dashed at the news that there will be no map in the new book. It was very endearing. :)

I should say more but the internet at my house isn't working and I'm logged in at my local library.
