Dont' forget about the chat on Sunday, Sept. 18, to discuss MWT's short stories from the book Instead of Three Wishes, along with The Baby in the Night Deposit Box from Sharyn November's Firebirds: Sci Fi and Fantasy Anthology. I hope you've been able to get your hands on them!

The chat will be held in The Conspiracy Room at 6PM Central Time/7PM Eastern Time. Time to get psyched for the countdown to Moira's Pen!

If you haven't started yet, don't forget to read Instead of Three Wishes, MWT's short story antholoy, and The Baby in the Night Deposit Box, MWT's other non-QT short story. If you haven't heard, we are reading and discussing all of Megan's short-stories to celebrate the release of Moira's Pen, which is coming out November 1st!

These are perfectly bite-sized, charming stories that you can finish during your lunch break. (as I've been doing) So, no worries if you haven't started yet. The chat to discuss these stories will be held next Sunday, September 18th, 6pm CT/7Pm ET, in the Conspiracy Room.

.

If you're having trouble finding the Best Shorts anthology, you can read most of The Baby in the Night Deposit Box on Google Books. This story was also published in the Firebirds: Sci-fi and Fantasy Anthology. The schedule for the QT short story chats is HERE. Happy reading!

Just to suplement the coverage of the LA Times festival--this blogger seems to have transcribed the entire panel discussion.

Here's my favorite bit:

Moderator: A children’s book critic called Megan the queen of subtext – multiple readings of Conspiracy continue to yield a rich appreciation of the text. I think that could be said for all three of you. Would you like to share your thoughts on multiple readings? Do you try to set up situations that become ah-hah moments for readers the second time through?

Megan Whalen Turner: I think the answer is, yes.

So I was searching for arcs of CoK when I came up with the Dedication page which said, "This book is gratefully dedicated to Dianna Wynne Jones." Imagine my squeal when I found out that my two favorite authors honor each other.

I realize it has (unfortunately) been out of print, but how many people have read Instead of Three Wishes? What did you think? Did you see any intriguing similarities, differences, parallels between those stories and the Thief series?

Sorry if this has been previously discussed...

Thank you [profile] octopirock for letting us know that Megan was coming, and thank you so very, very much Megan for taking the time to answer our questions and chat with us :D.  It was sooo cool to actually, finally, meet you!

Hey all. Megan asked me to post this to the main page:

Could you ask posters what they would like to see on my website? It's really a holding pattern at this point, rather than a website, but I think I better spiff it up. Too many people have complained about it.

Megan
