Date: 2/11/10 02:12 am (UTC)No, that's a BAD idea. I should wait. Anticipation is half the good in the first place. (Well, in MWT's case, that might only hold if there's 150% good, total...)

Date: 2/11/10 06:45 am (UTC)I've always thought that all of Attolia books had a whiff of Mary Renault (particularly The Persian Boy) and Mary Stewart (particularly The Crystal Cave) but this particular novel reminds me strongly of both (so far). It goes without saying that MWT is in top form here, as usual.
And how cool is it that she dedicated CoK to Diana Wynne Jones? I'm dubious about the "leg up" part, though, for while I treasure most of DWJ's books, I think MWT has now surpassed her in terms of sheer artistry, subtlety and power.
Thanks again. Can't wait until March.
ETA: Did she mean a literal leg up? As in, DWJ encouraged her/facilitated publication of her books?

Date: 2/11/10 06:20 pm (UTC)DWJ recommended Our Dear Author to Greenwillow, which is how Instead of Three Wishes got published. So, yes.

Date: 2/12/10 08:11 pm (UTC)Posting so much of a book is probably a good thing. Some people who aren't as devoted as Sounis members to MTW's works will get an introduction to her and be encouraged to buy the book. HarperCollins probably has a whole team of people studying the thought processes of readers!
