YOU have something I want.  And maybe, just maybe I have something you want, as well.
I want to see Eddis, Attolia, and Sounis united under one standard to fight back the vile Mede.  I actually want to see the standard...you know...the flag, the symbol that would represent a unified Eddis/Attolia/Sounis.  I tried to make one myself, with the triangle symbolizing the three countries, the symbol for interdependence emblazoned in the background, the names of each nation in a never-ending circle.  The outcome was just a cheesy blinking icon, dang-it.
But I've seen your wicked-awesome artistic skills, Sounisians, and I think you're holding out on me.  So how's about I offer an incentive for your creative labors.  If you can offer me a unified Eddis/Attolia/Sounis symbol, flag, crest, seal, etc, then I can offer you.......
 
A copy of Each work published my MWT (to my knowledge) to date.  That's right.  I'm offering used but  SIGNED copies of The Thief, The Queen of Attolia, and the King of Attolia in paperback, a copy of Conspiracy of Kings (not signed), paperback version of Firebirds containing the short story "Baby in the Night Deposit Box", paperback Instead of Three Wishes, and a copy of August 2000 Disney Adventures Magazine containing the "Thief" short story.  All packaged lovingly and delivered to your doorstep.

So go.  Make something beautiful.  And profound.  And shiny.  I await your awe-inspiring submissions.



Post entry or intention to submit by March 20th.  Because I may not have the heart to pick one lovely winner over another I reserve the right to choose a winner by random selection or to double prize packages to award to multiple winners.  Void where prohibited.

I wouldn't be able to give them away--I have a hard time just lending out my copies. I have no problem doing my very best to get my hands on copies that are offered up so freely, however.

I'm not actually giving away MY copies. These are extras I've picked up esp. for this purpose. And the Disney Adventures...don't hate me, but through a frustrating but fortunate turn of events, I have three. It would be wrong and selfish of me not to share.

Having just read an article called Begin Your Article with a Bang in prep for an essay I have to write... I have to comment on the beginning of this post. It's brilliant. I was hooked. =D

Now I'd be all over this contest if I didn't have said essay demanding my attention. I might just have to multitask...

Since my copies of the books are in the possession of various friends at the moment, can anyone remind me what the colors of Eddis, Attolia and Sounis are?

Methinks:
Eddis: Red, black, and white (at least those are the colors of her throneroom)
Attolia: Yellow (canary?), Blue ("celestial"), and white ... also found in the throne room and on the uniforms of the Attolian soldiers.
Sounis: I'm stumped. Will someone give me a hand?

This is Ay Double-yu Ess Oh Em Ee!!!! *drools at the prizes* Why, yesterday I was about to have a fit of apoplexy in my favorite bookstore because I'd taken special time after school to go buy KoA, and they didn't have it! They were playing opera in German, though, and they have nice cats, so that made up for it...kind of.

I am DEFINITELY going to join in this contest!
Question: Is it ok if, instead of being a "symbol, flag, crest, seal, etc," it's a ... sort of an interpretive drawing of the process of the unification ...? Erm, if you can understand what I'm saying incoherantly?

It took me so long to read "good idea" spelled out in phonetic letters that I am now feeling distinctly UNclever. Knowing this about my mental deficits, I still welcome your interpretive drawing...my curiosity is piqued. But I may need a "dummies guide to art, poetry, and anything else that takes wit". I love meeting people who are cleverer than average. That's why I'm Sounisian.

Hmmm. Looks like we have a few takers. **squeal** How's about we give 'til the 20th to let the creative juices stew, I'll compile a list of those who've said they'd contribute and begin another post dedicated to the entries.
