If you've done a Yuletide-style exchange on AO3 before, the process should be pretty similar. If you haven't, have a look at the explanation and examples below, check out the FAQ and rules on AO3 and let me know if you have questions!

Also, please spread the word—the more, the merrier.

The signup link is here!

Quick points:

  • The tagset is massive (honestly, go us and our great ideas). Worldsentwined on Tumblr very kindly made a spreadsheet of the full tagset so you can peruse a little easier.

  • Signups are open until Wednesday, August 31 @ 10am ET.

  • You'll need an AO3 account to sign up. You can request one here if you don't already have one. We have some extra codes if the wait list is too long so please ping me if that’s the case!

  • Please read the rules before signing up so you know what you're agreeing to do

Check below the “read more” for more info on how signups work, the “optional details” field, and how to submit your Do Not Wants. Please reach out if you have questions!

A big thank you to all who participated in the Thick as Thieves map giveaway. We received many, many entries, and all your predictions were various combinations of insightful, heartbreaking, and hilarious. Make sure you read them all if you haven't already. When the time comes, we may find out that some of these are right!

In the meantime, the Thick as Thieves paperback is now available in stores and online. Go HERE for ordering options.

I entered everyone's names into random.org and let the gods choose from there, and please, remember to thank Harper Collins for allowing us to host this contest.

I feel a little like Effie during the Hunger Games right now...

EDIT: If heard back from all the winners, and have sent along your information to Harper Collins. Thanks for getting back to me so promptly and for all your notes of gratitude. I really appreciate it!

Severally of you asked if there was a way to thank Harper Collins more directly, and I was going to recommend that you could thank them via Tumblr by tagging the Epic Reads blog. Once you have the map all set up and displayed, you could also share a photo. Epic Reads may find that beneficial for promotion of the paperback. I'd also recommend tagging MWT's Tumblr. Feel free to share a photo here on [livejournal.com profile] sounis as well. I'm sure we'd all love to see the maps!

Be Blessed in Your Endeavors )

You'll all be receiving further instructions as replies to your original comments. Congrats to all ten winners!

Who had the best predictions?

First of all, I wish everybody a happy and blessed Easter.

Now, here are my two pictures, if I can get them to load.

The first one is Gen and Irene after breakfast (notice their clean plates). And what is Peep Gen doing? Why, of course, he is giving Irene a peck on the cheek.

The second one is the Conspiracy Room. You see Baron Erondites and Sejanus (I surmise that purple might be their family's favorite color) conspiring. And Gen, perched above that elaborately carved ceiling? What is he doing? Well, he is Peeping down at them, naturally.

There's still a little more than 24 hours left to enter MWT's ARC giveaway. There are some truly fabulous peeps pics out there--some are hilarious, some are masterpieces, but what I like best is that everyone found a way to illustrate their most-loved scenes.

Go take a look on Megan's Tumblr, and get inspired!

"That waistband doesn't go with that coat," said the queen.

"As you have already noted, I was late." Eugenides bent his head to look at his waist. His coat was yellow, and so was the waistband, but the shades were not the same. "My attendants have triumphed this morning in their quest to make me look foolish. [...] No doubt in time their taste will improve."

"Perhaps if you did not order your clothes in colors that would suit a canary?"

(Would you believe that, prior to today, I'd never eaten a peep before?! The things I'll do to win an ARC of Thick as Thieves...)

Megan has parked all the entries for the Win An ARC With Legos! contest in one place here. Take a look. And it's not too late to enter--you have until March 15. Go and find some legos to play with.

A Legottolia ARC contest entry

From Megan's tumblr: "I have not gotten any entries yet.  I am very sad..."

Well, we can't have that, so here's my (very silly) contribution!

Do you think I could enter the following? As a sort of Grown Up Lego?

Conspiracy of Kings, you know ;D

ARC Contest

Well, the last contest was not a disaster, so I’m going to try having a second one. It will be a worldwide contest.  I will pay the shipping costs if someone outside the US wins.

Rules

In honor of the absolutely amazing checkers, creator of The King of Legottolia, it will work something like this:

To enter– produce and describe in 150 words or fewer (or no words, some things speak for themselves, don’t they?) a scene from any of my books– including books not yet published or even written–(use your imagination, no spoilers from those who have already read an ARC, please) –executed (mostly executed) in Lego.

Send the images and the words in an email message to tildemwt@gmail.com and I will post them to a new tumblr King of Legottolia.  If you don’t see your entry on the tumblr within a few days of submitting it, you’d better submit again. I will try to send you an email when it goes up.  No promises.

After the contest closes on MARCH 15, 2017, 12 NOON GMT, I will post a link to a website where anyone can vote for the winner.  Finalists can go twist as many arms as they like to acquire votes.  See how neatly I absolve myself of responsibility.

On the one hand, this is going to be a bit more time consuming to enter than the last contest (I mean, unless you crocheted a doll for the last contest, in which case this will be a cake walk).  On the other hand, I am not expecting as many entries,  so there should be much higher odds of winning.  You can enter multiple times.

Again, I reserve the right to cancel the contest at a moment’s notice if no one enters or too many people enter, or the Lego people send me a cease and desist order.

See here for more inspiration. And here.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Oh Yay! Grab your Legos and go, everyone.

The results are in! I numbered off all the comments from my previous post, generated a couple of numbers from random.org, and am pleased to say:

Congrats to [livejournal.com profile] mikkaybear and [livejournal.com profile] dathy8 on winning ARCs of Thick as Thieves! I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did. (Seriously, though, I can't wait until everyone has read it and we can discuss it to pieces!) I've sent you each messages individually, but in case you see this first, please be sure to message me with your address. Thanks!

The publisher is giving away 5 ARCs of Thick as Thieves via a Goodreads giveaway! The contest is open through March 1, so ample time to throw your hat into the ring. :)

Look what I found at the American Library Association conference this weekend!  I saw someone had gotten one from the exhibit hall on Twitter, and all but ran to go grab a copy for myself. And then when I saw there was one more copy left yesterday as the conference was ending, I couldn't help but grab a second one.

No one else I talked to at the conference quite understood how exciting it was to get this ARC, so I had to post here.  It's so weird to me that I was still in college when I first started reading this series (and joined Sounis), and since then I've graduated college, become a teacher, quit teaching, went to grad school, and became a librarian.  It's been so long! But now being a librarian means I occasionally get to do fun things like go to conferences and get ARCs.

I'm only a couple of chapters into Thick as Thieves (the downside of being an adult now is having adult responsibilities), but I'm super excited to read the rest of it. Once I read it, I'm willing to pass both of my ARCs along! I'm going to be buying a copy once it comes out anyway.

Comment here by Feb. 3 if you'd like an ARC, and I'll pick a couple of people at random. I'll cover the cost of shipping in the US, but if you want me to send it internationally, I'll ask you to reimburse me for shipping. My only request in return is that you go post a review of the book somewhere publicly (Goodreads, Amazon, your own blog, etc.) once you read it, so that we can get lots of other people interested in this series!

Well, hello to everyone and our Beloved Author! It's been forever since I posted anything here -- but I have a few minutes, and hopefully I haven't missed the deadline yet. So, I understand I can get four entries to the most exciting contest of the year by completing four fun and easy tasks. Here goes! The rest of this entry is under the cut (I hope! I'm the one who always had trouble with cuts.)

Megan's contest to win an advance copy of Thick As Thieves ends tomorrow! Read all about it here.

Checkers told me it was OK to be greedy in this instance, while an_english_girl suggested the reverse-psychology of the title (and it struck me as a method Gen himself might employ to achieve his desired ends)...
So without further ado: Why I should [not] have an ARC!
